If you have trouble falling asleep or failed to sleep through the night, then you have sleep disorder. This condition is also called Insomnia.

Our body repeats its natural cycle every 24 hours. During this cycle an adult sleeps 6-8 hours. If this cycle gets interrupted, people start suffering from Insomnia.

Short term Insomnia occurs for 2-3 weeks. It can occur due to stress and worry and disappears when the causes are resolved.

Chronic Insomnia is more complicated and can have serious health effects. More than 20 percent of Americans are suffering from this disease.

Insomnia is directly related to some events like stress, loss of job, marriage problems, financial problems, death of a loved one and sometimes it is also caused by the medications. Many prescription and nonprescription drugs have side effects that include sleep disorder too.

Sometimes this problem is associated with shift work too. Most of the people, especially nurses, doctors and other hospital staff have rotating work schedules. They work a day shift one day and a midnight shift the next day. Their “body clock” can never adjust to the changing schedule and they keep on suffering.

The following seven tips can help deal with this problem.

1. Avoid Heavy meals close to bedtime. If you are hungry, take a little snack.

2. Avid tobacco, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol in the evening.

3. Avoid taking naps during the day.

4. Before bed time, take a warm bath, read or listen to the music. Meditation also helps for better sleep.

5. Your bedroom and bed should be comfortable, quiet and dark with right temperature.

6. Get regular exercise daily.

7. Do not take your problems to bed with you. Try to take all the negative thoughts out of your mind.

There are many ways to bring joy into your life naturally, without spending money on therapy or prescription drugs. Look for ways to be happy through your experiences, instead of material things. Here are a few life changes you can make now to brighten up your days.

Sunshine

Sunshine is the best way to get your daily amount of Vitamin D. A lack of Vitamin D is linked with depression. 15 minutes a day is all it takes. If you live in a cloudy part of the world, a natural sunlamp is effective too.

What are you listening to?

Music is an important part of life. It doesn’t matter what genre of music you listen to — if it makes you happy, you need to make it a part of your daily life. Turn up the volume while you are cleaning the house or listening to the iPod on the way to work. I also like personal development audiobooks. Look in the bookstore in the Self-Help section for authors such as Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay.

Media Overload

Step away from the Blackberry! Set specific times throughout the day to check email. Morning, afternoon and evening works best. Turn off the notifications. How much news do you watch or read on a daily basis? Try going on a news fast. Limit how much news you are exposed to everyday. And one more suggestion: turn off the computer at least 2 hours before going to sleep.

Meditation

Create an alter as a sanctuary with objects that make you happy. Pictures of loved ones, a souvenir from a fun trip, religious symbols. Meditation takes practice and there is no immediate or calculated result. In my own words, meditation is about sitting down and shutting up. Yes, your first few attempts at silence won’t be successful. Your mind will be flurrying with what’s for dinner and what you forgot to put on the to-do list. But maybe that’s the point. Sit down and listen to the sounds around you. Be present. The more you practice meditation, the more peaceful it will seem. There are many different types of meditation. Find one that works for you and that you feel comfortable with.

Positive People Energy

Who are you spending time with? Limit time with friends or family that consume your energy or give off negative energy. Find friends that inspire you, make you laugh and have positive energy. Make them an important part of your life.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Now I know this may seem silly, but if you’re reading this article, then you need to bring some more silliness into your life. Rent a season of the TV show Will and Grace. Or choose another favorite sitcom. Purchase a couple of DVD sets and pull them out whenever you need a pick-me-up.

Brainwave Entrainment Mind and Matter – Mind Matters

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

I am heartened (actually I am thrilled) that all the newest science about the brain (and mind) is supporting and confirming the scientific approach that I already use when I teach about this. This post introduces some thrilling and exciting aspects of using the mind – the subconscious mind – deliberately.

In 1989 I said that the exploration of Human Consciousness is one of the last great frontiers that quantum science is focusing on. I say “one of the last” because I also believe that another frontier is the proving, in layman’s terms, the existence of “the Universal mind” (some call it the “Mind of God”). Those two frontiers are inexplicably bound together.

I have found Dr Joe Dispenza’s book “Evolve Your Mind” a veritable feast of recent science, which explains the deeper operation of the Human Brain and the Mind. “The Mind”, Dr Joe writes, “is the brain in action.” Another description of the mind that I like is “the brain at work” or Baroness Professor Susan Greenfield’s expression: “The mind is the personalisation of the brain.”

An Example of “Quantum Physics”

My son-in-law, Stefan, told me of an experiment he carried out at university, whereby light passed through small holes onto a sensitive screen that measured the pattern of light hitting the screen. When the experiment was observed and then not observed, the pattern of light measured on the screen was different. That’s right! The very fact that somebody was observing the light, had an effect.

Think about it. Your energy effects matter. Your mind effects matter. Your energy matters. We all have a unique energy. The fact that you are in this world means that the world is a different place! Yes, that’s right! Your energy makes a difference. It’s a short jump to say that what you think matters. Mind matters! The study of all the above (plus other subjects) is Quantum Physics.

Every time we change ourselves, say from being an angry, or fearful, or vengeful, or negative person, we are changing our own energy, and therefore effecting those around us (and the world), in a different way. Wow! Aren’t we powerful. We have the ability to change, change our mind by using our brains.

Neural Pathways

I have previously written about how we establish Neural Pathways in our brain and how science has actually photographed the process. An example of beneficial neural pathways are how people can visualise (over and over again in their Peaceful Place, using emotion) the achievements of say a fantastic dive sequence, or a complicated move on the parallel bars, or shooting a basket, or place-kicking a goal, or complicated dance steps… and then do all of these automatically. All wonderful examples of mind power!

Have you heard the expression “nerve cells (in the brain) that fire together wire together”, and hence the continual firing together forms a neural pathway. The more this pathway is used, the stronger and more established it becomes. Actions become automatic because the “body” basically takes over.

Another way of explaining this (from Dr Joe’s book) is that science has shown that when we quieten the internal chatter of our brain (going to Peaceful Place in Alpha and even more so by going from here into deeper meditation – the Theta brainwave state) we are using the frontal lobes of our brain in focused concentration to develop the neural networks in our neo-cortex (Left & Right brain) of whatever it is that we are working on to achieve with our mind.

Doing this over and over using great emotion (the language of the subconscious mind is emotion) develops the neural pathway. When it is automatic the memory of it moves into the seat of the subconscious – the cerebellum, which is in the mid brain or the Limbic System. The Cerebellum houses all our automatic actions – it is the keeper of what the body learns from the mind and is directly connected to all the circuits that fire in the Neo Cortex.

If you wish to learn how to use the power within you for Self Improvement then you can do that easily by Using Your Subconscious Mind.

There is a corollary to Wire Together, Fire Together

It is absolutely fantastic that science has shown that “there is an important corollary to the ‘fire together, wire together’ mantra. When we interrupt certain thought processes repeatedly, nerve cells that no longer fire together will no longer wire together. The good news is that those nerve cells don’t want to remain inactive. Instead, they seek out new connections and they use recycled neural growth factor to attach themselves to new neurons.” Page 396 of “Evolve Your Brain”.

This whole process is called pruning, and yes, science has filmed it. I have seen a video demonstrating “pruning” which to my untrained eye was a little hard to follow. meditation, subconscious mind, mind power.

Changing an Implicit Memory

When memories move to the subconscious mind, science is calling this “implicit” memory. Other memories or actions when they are not automatic is called explicit. In the process of forming a new habit we are going from explicit to implicit memory.

Changing an implicit memory to get a better habit (smoking to non smoking) is a challenge because the familiar, or the Comfort Zone, is so seductive. The subconscious mind (the Comfort Zone) wants what it’s got – and not what it’s not got. So “pruning” has to take place.

Awareness is always the first step. Awareness of being a victim, a complainer, an angry person or challenged by unworthiness, a depressed person, an anxious person, a judgmental person… and more… is the first step to change. Wanting to change is the next step, that is, saying YES. The next step is doing it and that’s what I teach – how to do it.

Nobody said it’s easy. Try this – sit or lie down and draw an infinity sign in the air,? – (it’s like a figure 8 lying on its side), with either leg, and the figure 6 with either arm. Difficult isn’t it? If you use your will power, practice and visualisation after a while you could change the hard wiring in your brain.

Similarly if you persisted with the methods I teach using 1. Writing the goal in positive, personal and present tense language 2. Writing the reasons for your goals (WIIFMs) 3. Relaxing in your Peaceful Place and visualising the success of the goal 4. Using emotion (building emotional anchor) 5. Deep meditation on appropriate aspects of the above then you would be able to change the new Implicit Memory – pruning away the old implicit memory and have the new habit housed in your cerebellum.

So, isn’t it exciting and fantastic that the science of the brain has shown that change can be achieved and that with positive energy we can effect the world positively.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain? ?requency following?response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

This ?requency following?response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ?ntrain?to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ?ind-tripping? enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person? starting position, entrainment can be rather ?it and miss?

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you?e probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain? strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

We’ve all had the experience in one form or another. Let’s say we arrive at work in the morning and as soon as we walk in the door our boss or a coworker says, or does, something or other that upsets us. Or perhaps, before we set out we had a little tiff with our spouse over breakfast.

Or let’s take a setting very far removed from the office: we’ve just arrived at the resort hotel for the vacation we’ve been dreaming of all year. But on the way we were flagged down and ticketed for exceeding the speed limit. Or, we find that the room we reserved is not ready yet and we’re forced to wait, tired and hungry, in a crowded and drafty reception lounge for an hour and a half.

Now, let’s take out our imaginary “emotion meter” and take a reading of our mood or state of mind during the rest of the day at the office, or the first few days of our vacation.

Our boss’s momentary rudeness (or at least we perceived it as such) is in the past. He may even have apologized, or we may have realized that it was really our fault. Or the minor discomfort we had to endure on the first day of our vacation didn’t last much longer than sixty minutes. Great! So why are we making so many mistakes on the job, and why was our lazy day on the sun-drenched beach…well, yes, a lot of fun, but…not quite as much fun as it was last year?

To be sure, our emotional state at any particular moment affects our actions, present and immediate future, in so many different ways, and I mentioned some of them in my recent post on defining emotional intelligence. Yet unfortunately, that’s often not the end of the story.

It’s bad enough when some external stimulus, whatever it is, make us feel angry, or disappointed, or irritable, or extremely frustrated, and so gives rise to a mood or state of mind that can last for several hours, days, or even weeks.

What’s worse is that our emotional state often doesn’t just remain at its initial level. It may escalate in intensity, without warning, so quickly that the person feels he is losing control (or sometimes he may not even feel it!). I have seen this referred to very descriptively as “the spiral effect.” Perhaps an even more appropriate term would be the “one-thing-leads-to-another syndrome.”

Jack and Jill’s little spat – what was their mistake?

Let’s use an imaginary couple, Jack and Jill, to cite a simple and familiar example from everyday life.

After a business meeting had finished sooner than anticipated, Jack calls Jill mid afternoon to tell her that he will be arriving home earlier than usual. Of course, Jill is pleased, and asks him if she could save her a trip by stopping off at the neighborhood supermarket on the way to pick up a few things. She rattles off the items she wants, and assures Jack that though she might not be at home when he comes, she’ll be back soon.

Jack arrives home with the goods. Jill isn’t back yet. He was pleased to help because he figures Jill must be exhausted after an especially busy day. Then he has a brainwave: why not help even more by cooking some supper? So he takes some noodles and eggs and a few other small items from the bag he’s just brought and begins to cook up a dish he knows Jill is fond of.

The pot on the stove is almost ready when Jill walks in. She ambles over to the stove, opens the pot nervously, and lets out a scream. A real scream.

“Hey, Jack, have you gone out of your mind? Are those the noodles you bought? I especially needed them for the meal I promised to take to my sick friend tomorrow. I wanted to use the leftovers from Sunday lunch for supper tonight…now I’ll just have to throw them out. And by the way, you bonehead, you now I always buy brown eggs, not white ones. Can’t you think for once in your life?”

Jack, who just two minutes ago was expecting to be showered with praise for his thoughtfulness, is overtaken at first with with a numb feeling. A rather bland, seemingly harmless, sensation. But the numbness quickly turns to bewilderment, which in turn converts into anger.

And unfortunately, anger breeds more anger. Jack storms out of the kitchen, leaving a badly burned culinary creation to go up in smoke. And a lovely young couple hardly speaking to each other for several days.

What should Jack have done – while his emotions were still reasonably under control? First and foremost, he should have kept reminding himself of his original intention, what he had set out to achieve in the first place. If making things easier for his wife was his first priority, then by definition, that took precedence over a wounded pride or temporary feeling of disquiet!

He might have said: “Look Jill, I’m sorry, but let’s see what we can do; losing our cool won’t get us anywhere. I’ll pop back to the store to get some more noodles, or maybe I can borrow from our neighbor. Perhaps we could”

For Jill’s part, some quick thinking before Jack’s stormy exit would surely have helped. “Jack,” she might have said, “I know you only wanted to help me. I’m sorry I lost my flap…I must be overtired, I guess. You know what – let’s put your concoction in the freezer it will actually be a big help not having to worry about tomorrow’s supper! And you know, there are some dishes that taste better with white eggs, not brown”

The problem is as we said: a strong negative emotion will most likely generate a still stronger negative emotion. If it happens to you, will you be able to take one step back and direct your rational side to take charge, before hell breaks lose and everything spirals out of control?

So you decide that meditation can do wonders for you. You are headed in the right direction.

Why do many meditate?

Meditation is the best medication for all agitations. – Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji

It is, in a way, a tool. It helps alleviate stress, aids with chronic pain, fosters good physical health, can make you sleep better, be more peaceful, be present, feel happier.

On a profound level, it is a doorway to the unknown. Meditation helps us get a sense of who we really are.

Once you try meditating, you will notice how disruptive the mind is. You might be surprised! You might find your mind thinking about your plans about the future, then wander to the grocery items that you need to buy. Maybe you will find yourself thinking about a painful memory.

If you are just starting out, please don’t worry too much about not being able to focus. It’s natural. Eventually you will learn to tame your thoughts and find some peacefulness and clarity.

Below are some valuable tips for those on the quest to finding their inner selves through meditation.

1. Posture. Whether you are sitting cross-legged on the floor or on a chair, be sure that your head is up and your spine upright. Your mind will tend to drift if you are slumped. Remember, your body and mind is interconnected. A balanced body equates to a balanced mind. A good tip that will help you straighten up is to imagine that your head is touching the sky.

2. Eyes. Try to meditate with your eyes slightly open. This will help you be more present. Lower your eyelids and allow your gaze to be soft. Gauge your comfort level, as some people tend to focus more with their eyes closed. Do what you feel is best for you.

3. Breathing. Pay close attention to your breath, as this is most helpful in anchoring yourself in the present. Listen to your breath as it streams in and out. Let it flow naturally. An ancient meditation practice would be to count your breathing – silently counting, one, two, three, four, then returning home to one.

4. Silence. I know that there are lots of music designed to aid meditation, but nothing beats the simplicity and healing powers of silence. Sitting in silence allows you to experience your mind fully. There is a special calmness and steadiness only silence can give. As you meditate more, you’ll find a place where your inner and outer meets, allowing you to rest in the moment-self-awareness.

Enjoy meditation. Be kind to yourself. Start by spending time to meditate each day. Consistency is the key.

Christians have struggled with the flesh since the early apostles walked the dusty roads of Jerusalem, hence the Bible states, “The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41b KJV). How do you overcome the flesh to fulfill your divine destiny, the destiny especially designed for you by God? Can you overcome the works of the flesh in your own strength? Not hardly. But before you role up your spiritual sleeves to tackle this task of overcoming the flesh to fulfill your divine destiny, let’s first define what the flesh is. The following fictitious story gives you an illustrative definition of your enemy, the flesh.

John was cruising in his Corvette convertible along the California coastline enjoying the sunset as seagulls darted and glided over breaking waves when he glanced in his rearview mirror and saw him. A man in an older Mercedes was tailgating him. John wouldn’t pull over to the right lane, it was under construction, nor would he speed up and risk getting a ticket, even though the road construction would make it almost impossible for a policeman to give him a ticket. But he wasn’t going to take any chances and this aggressive driver would just have to back off or go around. However, he didn’t back off or go around, but continued to tailgate John.

“What’s his problem?” thought John.

There was no reason for him not to go around John because there were no oncoming cars in view. But the man continued to tailgate and began blowing his horn. This was John’s day off and he was not going to let this obnoxious driver ruin his day. Surely he would give up and go around, but instead he began to tailgate John even closer, still blaring his horn.

“Idiot! Back off!” screamed John.

Finally, the antagonist gunned his engine and proceeded to go around. John got ready to really let him have it when suddenly three words flashed across his mind, “love and forgive.” He had heard that voice before and knew to love and forgive this man would be the right thing to do, but it wasn’t going to happen. With great fury, John verbally blasted the insolent driver as the man drove past and sped away, exhaust fumes trailing.

John turned his attention back to the coastline with its sea birds, breaking waves and sunset, but it just wasn’t the same. The End

That, my friend, is the flesh, John’s carnal desires expressed contrary to the will of God. Now that you have some understanding of what the flesh is, let’s see how you can overcome the flesh to fulfill your God designed destiny.

To overcome the flesh (Galatians 5:16-21), you will need something very powerful, supernatural. You will need the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:26-27 says:

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities (weaknesses): for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God”

What is this scripture talking about? It is talking about you praying in tongues and allowing the Holy Spirit to pray the perfect prayer through you to your Heavenly Father. What is the perfect prayer the Holy Spirit prays for you? He prays for any weaknesses you might have which would hinder God’s perfect will for your life. This Holy Spirit intercession helps you to overcome the works of the flesh so you can fulfill the divine destiny God has ordained for your life.

How often should you pray in tongues? As often as you like. The more the better. Remember, you are praying in tongues to overcome the works of the flesh. How soon do you want results? The more you pray in tongues, the quicker the results. I suggest praying in tongues at least an hour a day. If that seems too overwhelming, then start out with fifteen minutes a day and build up to at least an hour. You will be rewarded for your efforts.

You can set aside a block of time to privately pray in tongues and or pray in tongues during your daily activities while you get ready for work or school, walking or driving to work or school or an event or while reading the Bible, another book or magazine, watching television, listening to music or whatever. Just use wisdom when you are praying in tongues in public, you don’t want people to think you are crazy! You can pray in tongues quietly, hardly moving your lips and no one has to know you are praying in tongues. There is no excuse for not praying in tongues during some time of the day if you have the ability to speak.

Jude 20,21 says you build yourself up on your most holy faith and keep yourself in the love of God when you pray in tongues. So praying in tongues can be spiritually edifying to you.

The Holy Spirit in you is the Spirit of Revelation, your Comforter, Counselor, and Intercessor among other things. Develop your relationship with Him. Talk to Him. Get quite before Him. Let Him reveal to you the Lord Jesus Christ.

Well, hopefully this article has revealed to you the value of praying in tongues so you can overcome the flesh and unlock God’s perfect plan for you, your divine destiny ordained by God. But what is your divine destiny? It is the assignment God has blessed you with to allow you to advance His kingdom. This assignment will include a revelation of your divine inheritance and who you are in Christ. To advance His kingdom involves you growing up into the fullness of Christ as His disciple and submitting your will to God, loving Him more than life, forsaking all (dead to the world, dead to the love of money and dead to the love of things so He can trust you to be a great spiritual, financial and material distribution center with a divine purpose) and continuing in study, meditation, and obedience to His Word.

Is it difficult, if not impossible to fulfill your divine destiny? Yes, if you try to do it in your own strength, but with God’s grace you and can do all things through Christ which strengthens you. What is God’s grace? It is His willingness to release His power and ability on your behalf. It is His unmerited favor given to you because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

Remember to always walk in love and forgiveness towards everyone, always obeying God’s Word so you don’t hinder His perfect will for your life. But if you don’t read His Word how will you know what to obey? Please read His Word daily so you will know what to obey, thus fulfilling His will for your life.

Brainwave Entrainment How to Manifest Wealth and Much More

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

Did you know that you can actually manifest wealth? Learning how to attract wealth and abundance is actually becoming more and more coveted in today’s world as the proven results of positive thinking and emotions are starting to be witnessed. There are many ways that you can join in the movement as well.

First of all, start to think only in positives rather than dwelling on the negatives. Easier said than done, right? But this can make all the difference so get started right away. Rather than focusing on getting out of debt, for example, think about what it will feel like when you no longer have to worry about bills and house payments. Imagine yourself taking vacations and buying new toys for your kids. Write down all of the things you will do when you no longer have financial worries and tape the list up on your wall or somewhere that you will see it daily. This is just one form of nourishment for your positive brainwaves.

Somewhat similarly, you can also surround yourself with positive images. Many people make up storyboards or collages. Take the time to go through magazines and cut out images that represent your new life. Cut out images or new cars or healthy families all eating dinner together. You can’t do anything wrong here–this is all subjective so make it as personal as you like. This helps you to create a little positive mini-environment that you can always turn to. If you are surrounded by another reality that exudes negative energy, escape to your future reality. You can also absorb some of this by going to peaceful places that inspire you like parks or museums.

Finally, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home to get a positive dose of how to manifest wealth. If for whatever reason you find it hard to get out, and if you have a computer and high-speed internet connection, just take a look online. Again, you need to avoid all of the negative vibes that can trap you in any kind of media (television, radio, newspapers). Just bypass it and go to what you want to see, whether it be some sort of relaxing place or even information on how to go about creating your own wealth. A great place to see this kind of inspiration is on video channels like YouTube or many of the others.

It is really very easy to learn how to manifest wealth. All you have to do is accept it as a truth, gain the right understanding of how to put it into practice and follow it through in all of your daily activities. Often, the biggest hurdle is skepticism about whether it really works or not. It doesn’t take any effort or time to switch your mind over so give it a try and see the results for yourself.

This therapy has showed excellent results both for short and prolonged tensed patients. It has done wonders in relieving the daily tensions and pressures. Some of the diseases that are targeted to be curbed with this therapy are:

1) Stabilizing the breathing and heart rate: Music helps in slowing down the heart beat and pulse rate that helps in relieving the patient from the never-ending trauma.

2) Brain waves: A research conducted on ‘How music works on the Nervous system’, displayed extremely favourable results. It has been proved that a jazzier and fast beat music improvises the circulation and movement of brainwaves. The higher tempo increases the thinking power and smoothens the brain activities. It vanishes the anxiety and helps in energising the mood of an individual.

Meditation music is music performed to aid in the practice of meditation. It can have a specific religious content, but also more recently has been associated with modern composers who use meditation techniques in their process of composition, or who compose such music with no particular religious group as a focus.

Perhaps next to finding love, those who enter retirement seek ways to find or to enhance their spirituality. Through religion, meditation, communing with nature, reading great books and inhaling the mystical words of great poets, people discover paths to spirituality. Many believe that the presence of an inner spiritual instinct carries them into a higher plane of existence, a kind of mystical or otherworldly sense of self.

Some people feel they always exist in that special state of mind while others feel that they are transported there only under certain circumstances. It may come walking along a seaside cliff and watching a magical sunset. Being among trees hidden from the cacophony of city noise or being at home listening to music you love may lead to a transcendent experience. Occasionally just being alone with yourself while in a calm and reflective state, perhaps while meditating, can lead to a transitory state of transcendence. Being in church or temple sharing a meaningful sermon or hearing the stirring voices of the choir may take you into another realm of being.

Spirituality is the great equalizer. The belief in an innate spiritual self is widely held by most religions and ethnic groups. As long as man has felt awe in the wonder and beauty of nature he has been conscious of a special inner feeling that connects him to the universe.

Spirituality is abstract and thus can’t be easily defined. However, it creates a deep sense of self and is likened to love. Many people believe that love for children and grandchildren is part of the feeling of spirituality. Offering alms, giving to charity, assisting people in need, believing in God and prayer are components of spirituality.

Perhaps the closest one can come to spirituality is a deep internal feeling that appears at times that transports a person into another realm of consciousness. Some call it transcendence that may occur during mystical experiences, creative moments, reacting with awe to nature’s magnificence and as part of being religious.

Brainwave Entrainment Mind Machines – A Great Tool For Spiritual and Mental Self Development

Mind machines are often known as light and sound machines and are brilliant tools for mental development. I first came across them about 10 years ago and I did on occasion use them as part of therapy sessions with my hypnosis patents. They have come on a great deal in recent years and can be used safely and effectively at home for both therapeutic, learning enhancement and just purely recreational. In this article I am going to try and give you a brief overview on the benefits and the states of consciousness you can easily reach with this tool.

The brain has four categories of brain wave that can be recorded or in the use of a mind machine accessed at will. They are often related to the level of engagement and focus of the person, from Beta to Delta state. We even access these states while asleep, a person sleep pattern is 90 minutes, REM or rapid eye movement is a well know state that we all access when actively dreaming, this is related to theta brainwaves.

Beta brainwaves are between 15 and 40 cycles per second and are the most engaged state of mind. If we were really focused on an activity, say public speaking, we would normally be in very high band of Beta state.

Alpha state is the next stage, if we go by lower cyclic rate, normally around 9 to 14 cycles per second. This is a state associated with spiritual or meditative state of mind, also incidentally with the hypnotic state. Obviously the ability to access this level of consciousness without years of training and with just a mind machine has a lot of advantages. Many people use mind machines to speed up their psychic or spiritual development, turning years of work into months.

We have the next stage down which is Theta, around 5 to 8 cycles per second. We have all accessed this stage when doing a repetitive action; we drift off into a daydream. This is used to access deeper spiritual realms, I have used this level for shamanic path working and had very good results.

Finally we have the Delta state, at the lowest cyclic state of 0.5 to 4 cycles per second. This level of brainwave activity would normally be associated with deep dreamless sleep. It has also been associated with the very deepest state of meditation, to learn this level of meditation would take many, many years of practice.

I am sure looking at the different states easily achievable by most people with a mind machine you can see what useful tools these are. I like the flexibility of the vast range of mind machines available, everything from already programmed basic entry level all the way up to professional machines you can even create your own personal programs for. As a tool for spiritual and mental development, they take some beating; I am still finding new techniques and uses for mine many years later. As a professional therapist I would not hesitate to add this to my tool chest, I am sure you can think of uses I have not even thought of for a mind machine.
