Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

The story takes place in the future, a little more than two decades from today. So let me set the stage for you. Two individuals very similar to Bill Gates and Paul Allen have created a virtual reality living room, that is so real, it’s hard to tell whether you are in real life or immersed within the game. This virtual reality gaming center incorporates;
Surround-a-Sound
3-D High-Definition TV
Holographic Projection and Spectral Imaging
Brainwave Manipulation
Scents to Correspond with the Game
Graphene Coated Dome Shaped Immersion Systems
Net Centric Motion Detection
And a Host of Other Technologies That You’ve Never Heard of
All this makes “the cubed experience” (the name of their electronic system the game was played which replaced Xbox 10.0 years the prior) in your virtual reality living room gaming center so real. So much so that once you become immersed in this set of events which are portrayed, you forget it’s not real life. Unfortunately, this causes a huge problem because no one goes to work anymore; instead they end up playing the game of an alternative life in their living room. They forget to eat, pay their mortgages, go to work, bathe, or sleep.
There are very few benefits to real life anymore, or to live in the overall civilization and society with these high-tech devices around, which are very common in the first world countries, but not the third world countries. Worse, people don’t go to work at the power company, and when the power goes out, people freak out because their lives have been taken from them – so they riot in the streets. It’s that bad, or it’s that good, it depends on how you look at.
The virtual reality and augmented reality scientists that dreamed it up are Professor Wilson from Carnegie Mellon University, and Justin Bradford who just graduated with a PhD from MIT. Due to the incredible inflation in the United States, and due to the fact that every single household now has one of these machines costing well over $20,000 some of them have multiple machines, these two individuals are the world’s first trillionaires. In fact, nearly every individual alive, in every first world nation plays on these machines. They use these Artificial intelligent VR gaming machines are in every school for teaching too.
Unfortunately, they are also going to cause the downfall of many great nations such as Japan, the United States, Canada, Australia, and all of the EU. There are also tremendous problems with the ruling class in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, China, India, Brazil, Mexico, and well, you name the country. Many of the wealthy folks around the world in poor countries as well.
The drug trade has completely stopped, and no one who is depressed takes drugs anymore, because they can live their lives to the fullest in virtual reality, they can live any life that they want, and they choose to live that dream instead of the real world life experience. The problem is it has a price; people are paying with their health, and they are losing their wealth. And they will pay anything to keep playing, to make the game more sophisticated, more realistic, and more of a rush.
Even psychologists and substance abuse counselors cannot prevent themselves from playing the game. No one will admit they have a problem, so everyone keeps playing, and playing, and playing; until they collapse of exhaustion, the power company turns off their power due to an unpaid bill, or the actual power goes out because none of the workers showed up, and assistants can’t operate without disruption due to poor maintenance.
One day the elder of the two scientists, unilaterally decides that something must be done, that the algorithms must be adjusted so the game doesn’t seem like it is real, so that people will go back to work and actually live their real-life, and make sure the society and civilization is productive, before everything falls apart. Unfortunately, when they adjust the algorithms of the various technologies that are integrated into the virtual reality living room gaming center, people immediately notice the difference and complain.
In fact, as soon as they changed one component just a little bit they were bombarded with 1500 lawsuits within the afternoon; Professor Wilson admitted, “apparently Lawyers like the game as much as the rest of us?” The scientists realize if they don’t do something more people will die of dehydration, exhaustion, and even starvation (1,000s of case already reported). In fact the scientists have been working on trying to fix the problem spending mega hours working on adjustments.
They themselves have not slept or eaten in days. The few people still left running the country, those that are not at home running their own game scenarios, demand that something be done, or they claim they will shut down the game altogether and turn off all of the Internet connections.
However, they realize that they do this there will be a giant revolt, massive rioting, and they don’t have the military personnel available to control this, most soldiers have gone AWOL. There is no National Guard, there is no FEMA, and the government is barely functioning. Schools have closed, only lines outside to use the VR game. Truck drivers have stopped delivering the goods, there is barely any food on the shelves. The farmers have stopped harvesting, and civilization is beginning to look more like a war zone in the real world.
Professor Wilson knows he must do something, but he also knows he needs to get some sleep, but first he must get some food. He jumped into his Volvo and drives down the street to the local gas station minimart. His limo driver did not show up, he has no choice but to drive himself. He pulled into the gas station, filled up his car and loads a bunch of junk food products into his arms, pays the attendant and leaves. Since he hasn’t slept he is very tired. As he pulls out of the gas station he didn’t notice that someone was speeding down the road at about 100 mph, who had fallen asleep in his car.
That someone happened to be a customer of Professor Wilson’s and Dr. Bradford’s virtual reality gaming center. The other driver, a lady in her early 30s had been playing for 45 hours, and she was going to get some food, and then fell asleep with her foot on the accelerator. She “t-boned” Professor Wilson’s Volvo, and he only noticed at the very last second he was going to get hit, he barely had time to even say the words, and didn’t quite finish; “Oh my Gawww…” All the airbags in the Volvo deployed, but there was no living space left in the car. Professor Wilson was killed instantly.
What seemed like five or 10 minutes later, Professor Wilson was under a bunch of bright lights sitting in what look like a hospital. They told him just wait we are going to give you the rest of your brain back, you are only operating at 10% of course in the “human endeavor game” and Dr. Wilson thought to himself; “did I make it to heaven?” Within 30 minutes he had 100% of his brain, and then he realized that he was a “sentient being” and what he thought was real-life, was also actually a game that he’d been playing.
As they wheeled him out of the hospital, and he regained his composure, he was greeted by 10,000 other sentient beings. You see, he had been the first person to ever play “the human experience” and create yet another level within the game. He became an instant hero, because he did all of that with only 10% of his brain what no one had ever done before. He hacked the “human experience game’ from within.
They wanted to elect him as their noble benevolent dictator. He said he would think about it, and within the next two weeks the entire race of sentient beings all over their enormous domain, numbering in the billions had started a brand-new religion. You see, religion had not been known to the sentient beings before this; but they all started asking the question:
“If the ‘human endeavor game’ is only a game, and Dr. Wilson created a game within that game, then who is to say that we sentient beings are not playing a game, and this is only a test, therefore, what’s beyond this?”
They also wondered if Dr. Wilson was the son of the Creator who created “the sentient being experience game” and they wondered if he had come to show them all, that there is more to their lives than meets the eye? Was there a Creator they wondered?
There must be, they thought?
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain? ?requency following?response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.
This ?requency following?response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ?ntrain?to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.
On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.
Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.
THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ?ind-tripping? enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.
While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.
We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person? starting position, entrainment can be rather ?it and miss?
If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you?e probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain? strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.
