Part 1

Last Friday I was privileged to be a participant in the first beta test of a new workshop, designed around the Clarity Process, offered by Lee Glickstein of Speaking Circles. The process itself consists of dyads, one person sitting in an open-eyed meditative state, that is, listening with an open heart, not judging, not commenting, for 5 minutes while the other talks about his/her experience in that moment, or perhaps explores a personal issue.

I had an amazing experience! It occurred to me that I am generally doing one of two things. I may be having my own experience, that is, focusing my attention inside myself, on what I am feeling or thinking. Or I may be focusing my attention completely on the other person to whom I am relating, trying to understand what is going on for my partner, to support him or her, to “read” or help or offer my skills in service.

All of a sudden, I realized that our relationship is an entity in and of itself, and thus has its own heart center. In some sense, that heart is something about which we both revolve, like binary stars revolving around their mutual center of gravity. I can both see and feel this “heart of our relationship” psychically. It looks like a little thickening of the energy field, like the heat waves rising off a candle, but spherical because there is no candle. It feels a bit thick too, like static electricity or like the edge of an aura, when felt from outside.

If I connected my heart to the heart of our relationship, magic happened! Both of our auras got bigger and brighter, and something opened up from that place, a connection to the universe itself. I realized that that place is the place where creation, manifestation happens.

At the end of the day, I committed to exploring this phenomenon further in the next few days, which I am doing. I have learned that

– Attending to the heart of my relationship with anything brings on a nearly ecstatic state, which I can experience in the world, and still be walking around. I can access this state on demand, simply by asking, “where is the heart of my relationship with this [fill in the blank]?”, noticing where it is and connecting to it. The state is instantaneous and lasts as long as I am attentive to the heart connection.

– The center of my relationship to anything may or may not be half way in between us. Trees seem to rush out to meet me. One book, “Limitless Mind” by Russell Targ, did the same thing when I opened it, noticing where the heart of our relationship was. So far, no magazines have done this.

– I have a relationship with every thing, every animal, every plant, every person on earth, whether I know it or not, whether I like it or not, whether I come in contact with the physical thing/plant/animal/person or not. If I average where the centers of all these relationships are, it is in my heart. This is why the heart is our connection to the center of the universe, to God (if you like that word). This is why the heart is the center of creation.

– All of us have these connections going on all the time, whether we know it or not, whether we like it or not, whether we come in physical contact with our partners (things/plants/animals/people) or not. This is the web of life, of all of creation.

If you want to try this for yourself, there are 3 steps in awareness:

1) Feel your heart center and place your attention there. (This may take some practice.)

2) Ask the question, “Where is the heart of my connection to [fill in the blank]?” Again, practice with things, plants, animals and people you see. Practice with big things, little things, natural things, hand made things, machine made things, simple things, complex things, small plants, huge trees, fruit, cut flowers, small animals, big animals, pets, insects, people you’re emotionally connected to, acquaintances, complete strangers. Practice, practice, practice.

3) Connect from your heart to the heart of this relationship. Notice what you feel, what you see or hear psychically, what you seem to know about your partner in the relationship, or about the relationship itself.

Part 2

I have recently had a vision of the physical world as a (probably) 5 dimensional matrix, populated by intention. Here’s what I mean:

Imagine that you are looking through a window screen at a tree. At first, you notice the screen, because it is right in front of you, and then, as you pay attention to the tree, its leaves, bark, the way its branches sway in the breeze, you stop noticing the screen.

Now imagine that the screen is three dimensional, or rather four dimensional, because it exists through time. Now imagine that there’s at least another dimension to this. This is the matrix that turns the non-physical into the physical, the basic stuff of the physical universe. Now imagine that the tree exists inside this matrix (because it does). The tree is actually created by intention, from the pure potential held in the spaces between the matrix.

The matrix can be likened to female energy, the intention to male energy. Together, they make the world. Neither alone is enough to create physical reality. You need the female to hold and give form to the male intention.

Now imagine that each thing in the physical world, from the tree to the window screen, to you, all exist as intentions outside of the physical world. These intentions are vibrational fields, auras, which interpenetrate each other. When you can feel yourself as a field of intention, and everything around you as fields of intention, then they all interpenetrate each other.

This interpenetration is the visual or felt equivalent of a band playing music. You can concentrate on just one instrument, and hear that. Or you can hear the whole piece. Or maybe you can hear the interplay of two or three instruments.

The state of the American economy has many people feeling down. As the bad news is disseminated daily, it is easy to see how and why people – even the most optimistic of whom – may be having trouble shaking the blues. Below is a list of things you can try to help you snap out of it. They won’t resolve you problems, but can help take your mind off of things momentarily.

Reconnect with old friends – Talking to old friends will take you back to times enjoyed together in the past. It is also interesting to learn about what they’ve been up to and how their lives are going.
Take a brisk walk/run outdoors – If the weather permits, exercising in the outdoors lets us connect with and appreciate nature.
Call/see your favorite person – Your favorite person is just that because you feel good when you are around them.
Watch your favorite movie – Like your favorite person, your favorite movie is likely your favorite because watching it makes you feel good.
Eat your favorite food – This is usually comfort food which reminds us of good times. As long as you don’t over-indulge, you need not feel guilty.
Write in a journal – Keeping a journal detailing your thoughts and feelings helps you to unburden yourself of those feelings and move on to more positive things.
Write a letter, poem or song – Writing can have therapeutic effects, and the same is true of engaging in creative endeavors.
Meditate – Quieting your mind and focusing within are said to have many beneficial effects.
Organize a soiree – Surround yourself with friends and loved ones in a social setting and see if that doesn’t lift your spirits.
Go fishing – Ever seen a stressed out fisherman? Being around water can be very soothing.
Go swimming – Submerging yourself in water and getting exercise can be soothing and stimulating at the same time.
Listen to upbeat music – Ever wonder why people exercise, clean or work to upbeat music? Perhaps it makes you feel more energetic. Whatever the reason, it works.
Volunteer your time – Giving of your time for a good cause or purpose is sure to make you feel good.
Take a bubble bath – Submerging yourself in warm water can be incredibly relaxing.
Get a massage – Any massage, whether from your spa or your spouse, eases tension and feels good.
Take a long drive – Your one hour commute does not count. Taking a drive out in a scenic rural area will not only lull you into calmness, but will make you appreciate nature.
Sit under a tree and read – Lose yourself in a good book and connect with nature at the same time.
Dance – Good dancer or not, moving your body to the rhythm of the music can be fun and energizing.
Enroll in a workshop – Learn to do something you’ve always wanted to do.
Help an elderly person – Run an errand or fix something around the house. Whatever you do to help, they will appreciate it.
Watch your old home videos – Laugh at the antics of the children or your 80’s hairstyle. Laughter truly is the best medicine.
Take a long nap – If you are like most people, you are sleep deprived. Pamper yourself with a nice long nap to feel rejuvenated.
Play with a child – Just hearing the laughter of a child can make you smile.

Brainwave Entrainment Help Dementia By Meditating With Brainwave Entrainment

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

It’s no secret that meditation has many benefits and it’s not a new kid on the block.

For hundreds of years, if not thousands, meditation has been practiced daily, in just about every culture of the world, to achieve a no mind state of consciousness, where the brain releases chemicals to enhance health physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Meditation is a process that enables a person to communicate between you and your mind and your mind and your body.

If meditation can reverse damages done to the mind and brain, and stimulate areas of the brain that are not being used, it stands to reason that meditation can help with the symptoms of dementia.

A new study from the University of Pennsylvania, has confirmed that daily meditation can improve cognitive function. Cognitive function, is an intellectual process by which one becomes aware of, perceives, or comprehends ideas. This involves aspects of perception, thinking, reasoning, and remembering… all functions that are impaired in dementia patients.

In this study, subjects were taught how to meditate using Kundalini Yoga and were told to meditate 12 minutes a day for a period of eight weeks.

Kundalini yoga meditation involves the chanting of sounds, or words, in a repeating rhythm, to redirect the flow of thoughts, altering the brain’s normal patterns, neural chemistry, and emotional balance.

After the eight weeks, SPECT scans showed a significant increase in blood flow to the area of the brain that deteriorates in people with Alzheimer’s disease-the area associated with learning and memory.

“If this kind of meditation is helping patients with memory loss, we are encouraged by the prospects that daily practice may even prevent neurodegenative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.” Andrew Newberg, M.D.

Meditation, any kind of meditation, is not a skill that is easily acquired, and is especially difficult in people who have damaged areas in their brain.

Brainwave entrainment is a powerful, fast and efficient form of technology, that uses audio and/or visual pulses, to engage the brain into a specific pattern. Using specially designed recordings, while attempting a meditative state, can hasten the effect. Entrainment stimulates the brain to alter its dominant brainwave frequency to a precise brainwave that improves cognitive function.

Practicing Kundalini meditation, with a brainwave entrainment recording, will carve new neural pathways in the brain, those of which can be seen physically, on a brain scan. New neural networks form in the gray matter, waking up areas of the brain that are not being used to the best of their ability and enhances the damaged areas. Memories, made through the course of the day, have a new place to be stored, by-passing the damaged areas that used to store memories.

It’s very exciting to think that dementia symptoms can be diminished or maybe even eliminated, just by changing the way the brain stores memories.

Brainwave entrainment is a technology that can speed up the ability to achieve a meditative state, which in turn speeds up the receiving of cognitive benefits.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain? ?requency following?response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

This ?requency following?response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ?ntrain?to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ?ind-tripping? enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person? starting position, entrainment can be rather ?it and miss?

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you?e probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain? strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

Meditation has gotten a bad rap. For decades Christians have been led to believe that meditation is unscriptural or ungodly. I have talked to many believers who thought that if they become still and focused on their breathing or tried to quiet their minds that they were sure to be invaded by unclean spirits. But this could be farther from the truth. First of all, where did our very breath come from?

Just read Genesis 1 and it says that God breathed life into Adams body. When my grandson was born 2 years ago, it took almost 5 minutes for him to start breathing. We were all praying in the background for God to fill his lungs with life. Secondly, it is only through a tended mind that has been weeded from deceptive and negative thinking, faulty mindsets, and incessant thoughts that God’s word as well as his voice can get through. If a container is filled to the stop with mental garbage there is not much room for anything else.

If we want to embrace more of God’s truth we need to do some mental gardening and one of the best methods is through meditation. Meditation is a tool used to quiet our minds. It means to ponder, prayer, contemplate, and ruminate. Christian meditation is when we fill that quiet mind with God. There are many forms of meditation just like there are many types of music, it’s just important for believers to discern one kind from the other. Scriptures tell us that when we abide with Christ, he abides with us, and without his living and guiding spirit, we can do nothing. (St. John 15) One form of meditating on the Lord is to abide with him; to sit at his feet and to wait in his presence, just like the child who sits in his mother or father’s lap to be comforted.

This can be accomplished by carving out time each day to just sit quietly before the Lord where you are free from distractions. The ocean or secluded areas of nature are great places to meditate, but a quiet area in your home works just as well. Initially, meditating on the Lord by abiding may be difficult because our mind tends to be restless and wanders profusely; but with consistency you’ll gain more and more control over your thoughts. Many meditators select a scriptural passage or word to focus on and anchor their attention, often called a mantra. Your mantra or sacred words can be “the Lord is my Shepard,” “I walk by faith,” “the joy of the Lord is my strength”, “I cast my cares upon the Lord,” or “Peace be Still.” The late John Main, one of the most influential spiritual teachers in the Christian meditation tradition encourages believers to use the mantra, “Maranatha” that means, “Come Lord Jesus.” This mantra is suggested because of its relevance in scriptures and its lack of an emotional or mental references, which inhibits our minds from creating a mental attachment to the word.

You can also select a whole scripture or just one word, like “Jesus” or “Jehovah” to meditate on. Meditate in silence or record music to play in the background. It’s best to time the music or use a timer so that you’re not worried about being late for work or missing an appointment. As you meditate, become fully present by paying attention to your breathing or your sacred word. You can silently repeat your sacred in alignment with your breathing or anytime your mind begins to wander off. This is called centering prayer.

You can also create a mental picture in your mind to focus on a cross or God’s light filling your heart. As you practice being still and calming your thoughts, you’ll sense a greater feeling of God’s presence and a greater sensitivity to hearing his voice.

Many beginning as well as seasoned Christian meditators will use a guided meditation that come in the form of a Cd or recording. Guided Christian meditations are narrated and usually begin with a progressive relaxation followed by a scriptural affirmations or uplifting biblical stories. Guided Christian meditation can accomplish many goals from helping Christians to enter into God’s presence to teaching believers how to control negative thinking.

As a result of consistent meditation you will also begin to sense the yearnings of the Holy Spirit as he drops words or impressions on your heart. One time during a meditation I had a vision of me and all my family members standing in a circle and sharing our desires for the coming year. Several days later I shared my vision and we set aside a time to dedicated the New Year to the Lord and touch and agree on our heart’s desires in prayer. As you practice this form of meditation, you’ll find old weights and worries seem to disappear.

No evil thing can stand in God’s presence. The great thing about meditating on God is that anyone can do it. The more you spend time with God the more you will want to spend time with God. It is like a drink of cold water on a hot muggy day.

“Can you become a Money Magnet and attract endless money by using the law of attraction?” The answer is Yes. You can attract anything you want with the law of attraction. When I first started my business, I am struggling to chase for money. When I discover I can attract money, making money has been easy for me and not struggling anymore. You can do the same too with the 7 steps:

Step 1: Realizing The Law Of Attraction

The most important step to become a money magnet is to realize the fact that ‘All The Money And Income You Are Having Right Now Are Attracted By You.” It doesn’t matter it is a lot, little or debts, you attracted it. The law of attraction existed before you are born. It is a universal law that you are using it all time consciously or unconsciously. You got to realize that the money and income you are having now is attracted by you intentionally or accidentally. Realizing this gives you the power to change it.

Step 2: How Much You Want?

The next step is to set how much you want? What is the income level that you want? Make it specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. ‘More Money’ is not a clear and good goal. You can set something as ‘Millionaire in 10 years’ or ‘$10,000 Passive Income Per Month Within 5 Years”. Get clear and make sure it is something you really want and something exciting. If it’s not what you want and exciting, it will be a struggle to attract it because you resist it sometimes.

Step 3: The Powerful Visualization Exercise

Spend 5 to 10 minutes to use the visualization exercise everyday. Lie down or sit in a meditation posture and start. The process is about creating ‘Pictures’ and ‘Emotions’ as if you already achieve what you want in the present. How your life, your relationships, your business, your hobbies, your health and your family will look like in pictures. How do you feel when you already have everything you want in that moment.

Step 4: No Action, No Result

Becoming a money magnet with the law of attraction is definitely not about waiting money falling from the sky or someone will knock your door and give you cash. You need to take action to achieve the money and income you want. Many people will get disappointed when they read till here. But I think this is where the fun part is to me. I used the same action for months in business and achieve very little results. When I start using the law of attraction and take the same action, my business double within a week and it grows more than 3 times when I use the new ideas that came to my mind after using it. Plan out how you are going to achieve your goal and take action. You’ll see miraculous results.

Step 5: Become A Money Magnet 24 Hours

The law of attraction is not something that exists for 5-10 minutes in the morning. It exists every moment and 24 hours a day. Able to use it for the rest of the day is crucial to attract money effectively. If you are doing well in visualization in the morning but complaining or feel bad about the money you are making, you are likely going to get the opposite. Use self-written check, pictures, positive music and successful environment to support you on this.

Step 6: Create A Group Of Magnet

Share you goals with other people who will be influenced by your goals. If you have a goal to make more money, share your goals and excitement with your family. The law of attraction works for everyone. When you share your goal with them, they will visualize and send out positive emotions that attract your goals for you. They become magnets that indirectly attract your goals for you. You and others are excited for each other.

Step 7: Attract Everyday!

The power of the law of attraction comes from repeating the steps. You can’t success by applying it once and wish that you’ll be success. You can’t build a multi national company with a single sale. You can’t be a millionaire simply with a single action. Repeat the steps daily and your goal will be closer to you everyday.

These are the simple and powerful steps to become a money magnet with the law of attraction. Don’t forget to use it everyday and remember to take action!

The two words, conscious living, may seem redundant. But, before that thought solidifies in your mind, see if you practice the following actions. Think about each question before you instantly let the answer cross the mind. Consciously think, then answer.

~Do you stay focused on the present…or does the mind drift frequently to the past or future?

~Do you see things as they really are or is your perception distorted by an unwillingness to see the truth?

~Are you open to learn something you assumed you knew from a different perspective?

~Are you truly aware of what guides you in making your choices in life or do have barriers?

~Do you truly want to expand your knowledge (there is an infinite amount to learn!) in order to help you grow?

Conscious living requires one to be able to accept complete responsibility for all their actions. Very often, circumstances or other people are blamed for negative experiences; however, how it is dealt with is a conscious choice. Life is not always easy. If it was, the ability or desire to advance humanity’s existence would be at a stalemate. It is often the people who have had the opportunity to face, overcome, and grow from the most challenging of circumstances that have made the most difference.

It is a common self-defense mechanism to blame someone else for our problems. It is an early instilled habit that makes the mind worry about the future or hold onto the past. It is easier to keep the “facts” as you have remembered them than to perhaps ponder another perspective. The consequence of this type of mindset is that the longer it is practiced, the more likely one is to live on “auto-pilot”. Before you realize it, you could be approaching the middle of your life and wonder where all the time went.

To live in “auto-pilot” mode does not require much effort. It is simply a repetition of the routines instilled in the mind. Perhaps one who is in “auto-pilot” mode will occasionally wonder if there is more to life. A new thought may emerge from time to time. But, the excess baggage that has kept the mind in “auto-pilot” has to be discarded in order to get the plane off the ground. It is not initially easy if there is a lot of baggage to release. That action takes conscious effort. It can be done.

It is imperative to do an honest assessment of yourself. Are you happy with who you are? If not, why? Do you have dreams, goals, or desires you want to pursue? If not, why? Are there changes you keep meaning to make in your life, but don’t? If so, why not? Do you (be honest) blame others for your challenging experiences or do you take responsibility for your well-being?

If these questions are difficult to answer truthfully in your own mind, the concept of being truthful with others is nearly impossible.

Conscious living requires that you be honest with yourself…and others. Conscious living requires that you accept the good and the bad that life will always bring and actively face it. Conscious living gives you the courage and strength to make your dreams a reality. Conscious living takes boredom out of the mindset and brings a fresh perspective on life.

Take time to ponder these questions and thoughts that may cross your mind regarding your life. Your health, lifestyle, sense of well-being and more are all affected by your consciousness. What’s more, what resides in the consciousness pales in comparison to what lies in the sub-conscious part of the mind.

Brainwave Entrainment Seven Tips for Using Brainwaves in Meditation

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

Using brainwaves in meditation is a good way to get deep within your mind and achieve some powerful goals. There are five different types of brainwaves, each at a different level of consciousness. These include Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta waves. Each has a certain level of awareness, and can be a powerful tool when meditating, in order to achieve different goals. Here are seven of the many tips to help you use brainwaves for meditating.

The first tip for using brainwaves is to really study up on the five different kinds of brainwaves and how they work. The first two, beta and alpha waves have to do with the conscious mind. Gamma waves aren’t exactly a state of mind, but actually play a supportive role for the other four states. Beta waves are the most difficult to use in meditation, mostly because this is a waking state of mind and is most active. On the other hand, it can also be one of the most powerful because of the energy that is focused and used.

The second tip for using brainwaves is to really check around for the right learning course. There are a many different websites that teach brainwaves in for meditating, some that are free and others you have to pay for. It is a good idea to start with the ones that are free, in order to familiarize yourself with this kind meditation.

The next tip to remember is that because you are using brainwaves, which control most aspects of your mind and body, you should never use it when driving, operating machinery, or any circumstances where you could injure yourself or others. Most people choose to have a special place where they meditate.
Some people use different sounds to help them achieve different brainwaves.

If you are going to use these sounds or music, make sure they are designed to promote the brainwaves you are trying to achieve. The three most common beats or tones are binaural, monaural, and isochronic. Each one can bring on different brainwaves. In order to get the best effects of these beats or sounds, most use headphones to only hear these sounds. It also recommended that you use high quality recordings.

Note that these techniques may take time to start happening and for you to feel their influence. Some people experience results within the first few times of using them, some have a more difficult time. Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work the first time for you, or you don’t have some kind of epiphany. It will happen, and get easier to do.

As you practice and get into the habit, it will often be possible to achieve different levels of brainwaves in just a few minutes. This will enable you to get out of a stressed out mood, depression or anxiety within a short period of time during the day. Some people use brainwaves many times during the day to help with their every day lives.

Be careful with certain levels of brainwaves. Delta waves are waves associated with unconsciousness and even coma. This is a state of mind where you are completely oblivious to the world around you. It takes years of practice to meditate at this level, most people end up falling asleep instead.

Lastly, but possibly the most important tip is to only use these powerful brainwave techniques for improving your life. Using these techniques for negativity can actually back fire and target you instead. Just like any other meditation method, they are to be used to help improve your life, not to impose your will on anyone else.

Using brainwaves for meditation is popular among many different cultures, and while the scientific research on brainwave activities are relatively new, they have been used for thousands of years by Tibetan monks, priests and many others. Brainwaves can be a powerful tool to help you heal your own body, your mind, and help with your overall health.

Meditation music is music performed to aid in the practice of meditation. It can have a specific religious content, but also more recently has been associated with modern composers who use meditation techniques in their process of composition, or who compose such music with no particular religious group as a focus.

Dr. Mike Miller, a research cardiologist at the University of Maryland Medical Center, has been studying the effect of happiness (or things that make you happy) on the heart for years now.

In 2005 he and his team found that laughter could open up blood vessels so that blood circulates more freely all through the body. The next logical question was would music have a similar effect.

It turns out, music (and not just meditating music) is one of the best, most natural, easily accessible stress relievers out there. Either playing or active listening to music you find pleasing may in fact be incredibly good for your heart and your entire cardiovascular system.

Of course it’s also important to understand that everyone responds to types of music in a unique way – what may be joyful to one, may be utterly horrible to another.

Still, any music lover can tell you that a piece of favorite music can bring out an amazing range of emotions as you listen, physically relax you, even exhilarate (or bother) you.

And who can deny the impact music has when the chorus of a song (loved or hated) repeats through our heads even when we try our hardest to ignore it.

In this latest work, Dr. Miller asked ten healthy nonsmokers (70% men, average age 36) to participate in a four-phase study. Participants were instructed to fast overnight and told not to listen to the music they liked for a minimum of two weeks before the appointment.

The first phase of the study involved subjects listening to their favorite music – everything from rap and classic rock to jazz and show tunes.

The second phase called for subjects to listen to music that made them feel anxious.

In the third phase, subjects listened to audio tapes intended to promote relaxation, and in the forth phase they watched videos that made them laugh.

The phases were administered in random order and scheduled at least one week apart from the one before.

A baseline blood vessel dilation test was conducted at the beginning and at regular points during each session of each phase. All in all the study took about eight months to complete, and involved a total of 160 dilation measurements for each participant. The findings were worth the wait – showing that listening to music you truly enjoy can counter the effects of stress (vessels opened 26%); just as listening to music you dislike can increase your stress and narrow vessels by 6%.

Experts know that long-term stress can cause real problems for your body. Stress causes blood vessels stiffen and become rigid, and as we get older, arteriosclerosis adds to this as a natural condition of the body as it ages.

Blood pressure goes up when blood is pumped through tight, constricted blood vessels, and this increases the risk of heart attack or stroke. Today cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the U.S.

Stress is also known to suppress the immune system, speed aging, contribute to infertility and maybe even re-wire the brain, leaving us more vulnerable to anxiety and depression.

Another study on the power of music out of Stanford University found that older patients diagnosed with depression saw an improvement in mood when visited by a music therapist.

There are hospitals all over the country that use meditating music therapy as a way to help healing. The Mayo Clinic uses music as part of the heart surgery healing program. Relaxing in this way is thought to ease pain, lift mood and improve sleep.

But when it comes to music’s effect on the body, variety is key. “You just don’t get that boost if you listen to the same song over and over again,” Dr. Miller points out. “You need to vary your songs, so when you hear the song fresh, it brings back the sense of joy and opens up the system.”

brain waves The Radial Appliance in Alternative Health

Meditation music is music performed to aid in the practice of meditation. The radial appliance is
probably the most versatile of
the various energy medicine
devices recommended by
Edgar Cayce. It can be used as
a preventive or curative treatment
by varying the type and
location of electrodes (plates)
and the inclusion of a solution
jar for carrying medicinal vibrations
into the body.

Although it was originally
called the “radio-active” appliance, it contains no radioactivity in
the modern sense of the word. The readings state that the energy
that it utilizes functions like a radio wave. This energy is also referred
to as radial activity that functions through radial centers in
the body, so I like to call it the radial appliance (which certainly
sounds much more benign that its original designation).

The commercial versions of the appliance now go by a variety
of proprietary names created by modern suppliers. The device is
typically constructed of common materials including steel, glass,
carbon, and charcoal. It is cooled down in ice water before attachment
to the body. The readings state that the vibrations from
the carbon, iron, and water used in a functioning appliance resonate
with those same substances within the body. When properly
used, the sympathetic vibration of the appliance has a balancing
and harmonizing effect on the body.

Typical Preventive Application

The appliance seems to work best if used for at least four days
a week. It can be used every day. In a typical preventive application,
the attachments for the appliance are rotated in a pattern
around the extremities of the body (wrist and ankle). A special
reading that describes the theory of the appliance describes the energy pattern as a figure eight associated
with the upper and lower hepatic circulation
of the liver and kidneys.

Cayce said that normal sleep tends to
balance this energy pattern which can become
distorted due to our daily activities.
He stated that the appliance accomplishes
the same balancing effect as normal sleep
and could be used as an aid to restore normal
sleep (see the companion article titled
“Restorative Sleep”).

You should remain attached to the appliance
for about an hour each session. It
is preferable to remain quiet, in a prayerful,
meditative and constructive attitude during
the time the appliance is attached;
while resting, or just before retiring at
night. Choose a relaxing setting such as a
bedroom or meditation area. A recliner
chair that adjusts to a horizontal position
can be very relaxing. Place the container
and appliance on the floor next to the bed
or recliner.

Many people prefer to play some calming
music during the session. A sixty minute
cassette tape or CD also helps to
define the length of the session. When
the music stops, the session is over.
Many music stores now contain one or
more departments featuring music for
meditation, relaxation (stress reduction),
“night music,” and so forth. After the session,
remove the appliance from the ice water
and dispose of the ice water.

Curative Applications

By varying the composition and position
of the plates and inserting a solution
jar into the circuit, the radial appliance can
also be used as a curative treatment for
serious conditions such as neurologic diseases.
This configuration resembles the
strictly curative format for the wet cell battery,
another of Cayce’s primary energy
medicine devices that is often confused
with the radial appliance. The difference is
that the radial appliance generates no energy
of its own – it merely utilizes the
body’s own energy. The wet cell is a
chemical battery that does generate a
small amount of measurable electricity.
Therefore the radial appliance is a
milder treatment that may be more appropriate
for children or elderly persons requiring
this simple regenerative
therapy.
