Increasing numbers of people are discovering the benefits that binaural sounds have to offer. In this article we’ll take a look at these in more detail.

What Are Binaural Sounds?

Binaural sounds – more properly called binaural beats – are a form of sound-based brainwave entrainment technology. Brainwave entrainment involves exposing the brain to repetitive stimuli of specific frequencies, with sound waves being the most common and easy to use type of stimulus. These are designed to influence the predominant frequency of the brain’s own brain waves. This works because of a phenomenon called the ‘frequency following response’. When the brain hears these sounds, it adjusts its own brain wave output to a similar frequency. This is useful, because different states of mind are associated with the production of brainwaves of different frequencies. So by listening to a brainwave entrainment recording, it becomes easier to access a variety of mental states even if you’re not trained in meditation or other mind-control techniques.

Binaural beats are the most commonly used form of brainwave entrainment technology. When listening to binaural beats, you hear two pure sine wave tones through headphones, with one tone entering each ear. The brain processes these sounds, and produces a pulse (or beat) which repeats rapidly, at a rate equal to the frequency difference between the pitches of the initial two tones. For example, if you listen to tones with frequencies of 330 and 340 Hz, the brain will produce a 10 Hz beat. It then entrains to this self-produced pulse.

Binaural beat recordings usually feature music or some form of ambient noise that blends with the sound of the beats themselves. This helps to enhance the relaxation effect of the binaural sounds, as well as masking them somewhat, as many people do not like how raw binaural beats sound.

Uses Of Binaural Recordings

People use binaural sounds for many different reasons. They’re very popular with meditators, as they make it easier to reach a deeply relaxed state of mind. They are also useful for overcoming insomnia, for the same reason. Some people use them as a way of exploring different states of consciousness and developing their psychic abilities; binaural beats are useful for these purposes because accessing these altered states depends on the ability to achieve and maintain a deep trance state. Binaural recordings are also great for helping to relieve stress, increasing energy and alertness, and even for improving creativity and memory issues.

Such a recording is very easy to use as well. Binaural beats are generally available as MP3 downloads or in CD form, so can easily be listened to on an iPod or other MP3 player. All you need is a pair of headphones and a quiet place to sit or lie down. Then you just close your eyes and put your attention on the recording, while allowing it to do its work.

For best results, use your recording regularly. While some people get dramatic results from binaural recordings the first time they listen, it’s more common that the full benefits will come with consistent practice, as with anything else.

Decorating a home in the Asian style is easy and it is more about using less than making a big deal out of things and objects. The home should exude a feeling of tranquility and peacefulness. The lines in each room will have a calming effect on you. The paint on the walls and the furniture should all have the rich warm tones of the earth and sky.

Gorgeous fabrics with rich vibrant colors and textures are the staples of the Asian style of decorating. It is not advisable to decorate the entire home in this manner but it is possible to keep an element of Feng Shui throughout the entire house. Walking into a room with a great Asian décor is like stepping into a sea of peace and calm. The lines and colors are designed to sooth and relax you.

Asian decor works great in a Dining room, bedroom, living room or bath. Read on to find five of the best ways to incorporate a bit of Asia into your home-decorating theme.

1.) One of the basics in a living room with Asian style is the meditation space. This space can be enhanced with a trickling fountain and pillows. Relegate a portion of the room for this purpose, by using large pillows to use instead of chairs will add to the feelings of relaxation. Adding calming music in low tones in this area of the room. Make sure that all that enter respect this space for what it is.

2.) Bamboo is a great decorating choice for a room decorated in the Asian style and mini bonsai or manicured plants are also great to use as an accent in Asian decor. You can use these plants as a natural room divider or as a focal point. Asian themed garden planters make great indoor planters for plants and flowers.

3.) The Asian Culture uses beautifully decorated screens for a variety of purposes in the home. A Shoji Screen is the perfect addition to cover a laundry hamper with style in a bathroom. These come in all sorts of mediums. They are great to partition off different sections of a room.

4.) Lighting is also important in Asian home decorating. Low wattage bulbs inside decorated paper lamps will add an authentic feel to any room.

5.) Decorating the entry and hall ways in Asian motif or Asian glass vases will bring it all together. A lot of people fail to pay attention to the entryway into the room that they have painstakingly decorated in Asian style. This is indeed unfortunate. The transition is a sort of shock and it takes away from the overall enjoyment of the feel you were striving for.

Finally have a few pieces of art rather than a cluster of items. Let each piece stand on its own merit.

Brainwave Entrainment Alpha Brain Waves – How to Relax Deeply

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

Alpha brain waves may be a little complicated to understand if you’re not entirely sure what they are. To put it simply, they are electromagnetic oscillations that arise from synchronous and coherent activity in the human brain. Yeah, you don’t have to worry about acing the definition on your test. What we’re discussing here is the unique way in which these brainwaves can provide the optimum state for learning in the human brain.

When it comes to learning new information, research shows that the best way for the human brain to pick up and retain this knowledge is to be in a relaxed but aware state. Relaxed, obviously, doesn’t mean sleeping in this context. We want the brain to be lucid and aware, but want the body to be relaxed. This gives the your brain free reign to fire and helps your brain to learn.

This state of relaxation is called the alpha state. The alpha state is proven to be effective in learning; however, achieving the state isn’t the easiest thing in the world to do. Although it can be achieved in a number of different ways, the point of relaxation required is specific, and many people can jolt themselves out of the alpha state or even fall asleep while attempting to find it.

The most typical time to achieve the correct state is right before sleep or right after a person wakes up. At this time, the mind is clear, highly receptive to information, and begins to rapidly make connections and open up to thoughts and realizations. When the correct level of relaxation is reached, the brain is in an optimum state, via the alpha level, to acquire new knowledge. Meditation is also a great way to get into the alpha state, as well as some yoga exercises.

Alpha brain waves are considered invaluable in everyday human life. When you first wake up in the morning, your brainwaves are functioning highly. Research shows that immediately becoming alert and perceptive of your day’s plans upon waking is a great way to get them done. Telling yourself what to do, like positive reinforcement, when your alpha brain waves are firing properly and frequently is a great motivational tool.

Conversely, research shows that loud alarm clocks, not enough sleep, abrupt disturbances, and other “alarming” things hinder your progress, and thus making the alpha state more difficult to achieve.

Regardless of how alpha state is achieved, it is important for people to be in that relaxed state to decrease stress and help broaden the scope of one’s knowledge. Alpha brainwaves are still being studied, and the alpha state is currently being implemented in many techniques with far reaching results.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain? ?requency following?response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

This ?requency following?response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ?ntrain?to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ?ind-tripping? enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person? starting position, entrainment can be rather ?it and miss?

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you?e probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain? strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

There are rules of thumb but there are no hard and fast rules. The ‘things people do every day to become successful’ in what they do has so many variables.

Some swear by morning coffees, others a 20-minute nap. Give or take, that’s almost always the story. Like I said, variables.

Routine, or better yet, discipline is what makes people successful. I will never claim to be a ‘successful person’ but what I HAVE been doing is working from home for the past 18 years. I hope you can share YOUR story about how you soften the rough edges off of your everyday work week too because it helps. Every little bit of advice helps, actually, because most successful people listen.

1. No Emails – Most people start their days off by rolling off their beds with everyone screaming at them. Your alarm is screaming. Your boss is screaming, your kids are screaming, your email is screaming. So, one of the things that I DON’T do early in the morning is to check my emails. People who know me know not to expect an instant reply from me early in the morning. That’s when I am trying to sort my shit together so that I can get stuff done for you throughout the day. So, no emails in the morning. Only coffee is allowed.

2. Stay Dressed – This one is for those who work from home. One of the things that I’ve noticed in nearly 2 decades is that I dress for work (even if I will be in my home office or living room) the whole time I am going to be working. I don’t know about you but the moment I slip on my cutesy ‘lil comfy clothes, my zest for life and roaring enthusiasm to get things done slithers off from me like a layer of dead skin cell.

3. Meditate -Oprah’s said it. So did Deepak Chopra and Cameron Diaz. It’s not the woo-woo-woo stuff, trust me. It’s more like sitting there in complete silence or with soft music gently caressing my ear, or just sweeping the floor (the movement is meditatively repetitive, try it!). Instead of thinking of it as a ‘new age fad’, think of it as Loading Your Gun Ready to Kick Down the Doors of the World. Badass when reworded, huh? I use an app to ‘help me along’ – Insight Timer. It has music, guided meditation, and… well… complete silence.

4. Don’t multitask – It’s something I was really proud of and multitasking was the only way for me to move the needle forward when the list of things-to-do was just way too long. I don’t do it anymore. Instead, I think doing things in spurts is far more productive. One example would be that if I found vacuuming the floor THE daunting task of the day, I would mindfully vacuum the living room and leave the rooms and kitchen for tomorrow.

Silly example, I know, but when applied to work, it’s pretty amazing when you give the tasks at hand short bursts of active, productive attention. When I am tired, I will come back with a whole lot more to contribute AFTER I’ve dealt with my brain fog instead of muscling through it. I mean, who am I to argue with the chemicals in my brain?

5. Coffee – I am just going to leave this right here. Explaining it any further is going to make me angry if you don’t understand it. It’s my survival poison.

6. Laugh a Little – A sense of humor provides a buffer against the build-up of stress and anxiety in your system. So, occasionally, load up your Tumblr or Twitter (where you are encouraged to follow people like 9gag – just a personal preference, of course) and just laugh a little.

Experts say that humor provides a powerful buffer against stress and fear. “Humor is about playing with ideas and concepts,” said Martin, who teaches at the University of Western Ontario. “So whenever we see something as funny; we’re looking at it from a different perspective. When people are trapped in a stressful situation and feeling overwhelmed, they’re stuck in one way of thinking: This is terrible. I’ve got to get out of here. But if you can take a humorous perspective, then by definition you’re looking at it differently – you’re breaking out of that rigid mind-set.”

7. Being understanding – I know this doesn’t fit into the normal mold of ‘things people do to be successful’ but I think it’s pretty important. Because most of us work with others, whether in the office or remotely, we often assume that people are being evil of mean when they’re being a little less than nice to us. Sometimes, it’s because they’re tired just like you, exhausted just like you, overwhelmed just like you, have to pay bills just like you, are worried about their kids/parents just like you, or simply had an argument with a friend/spouse just like you.

I think this point is particularly important in the digital world. With the digital divide, we sometimes forget that we’re dealing with human beings. Just like you.

Brainwave Entrainment Self-Improvement 101 – Mind Control Techniques

The pertinence of self-improvement has come to the forefront of the modern society. Never has there been so much interest in unlocking potentials and freeing the talents within – especially when the combination of science and urban rhetoric has the world convinced that all we need is some consumer level mind control techniques to unlock the superman or woman within us. Gladly, it is not a legend, myth or a yarn spun around a table. The facts remain that it is true – we as a human race are not utilising the full set of tools that evolution and experience has given to us.

Psychologists put this down to our developmental stage of our life, when the conscious and subconscious are within similar planar and neurological states. Laymen would translate this to – the sub conscious brain and the conscious brain during the developmental stages of the brain and its mental faculties are left open to many persuasions that can decide either fate – a stunted or full growth of all the available talents within its pre and conscious state. Unfortunately, we are not armed with the tools necessary to ensure that we get the full benefit of our brainpower.

Most of us are either borne with some gifts over others, or sometimes none at all – which distinct us as very normal human beings, with normal mental capabilities. Herein lies the problem. Popular definition would say that we are normal but what psychology and neurology has shown – we are actually running quite below capacity. What we need is some mind control techniques to free the shackles of the mind and unfortunately, as well, we have no easy access to meditation or hypnosis – the then popular methods of unlocking the subconscious mind and invoking our inherent powers. The personal development industry has been working closely with science and its developments, especially in the field of brainwave entrainment and autogenics.

From dream machine to compact disc, this has propagated into various types of technology that include the subliminal CD and binaural beats. First released as a hesitant move into self alteration, now it is the meteor that leads the fire spreading within modern global societies. Now we have the power to have full control over our minds, and call upon latent gifts that we can utilise to give us and edge in life and in the things that we do. Learn faster, think better, focus like you have never before and be the puppet master to your body and call upon physical abilities that you have never thought possible.

That is the power of such mind control techniques and now; there are available off the shelf, on the internet, around the corner. Packaged most popular as CD’s, all you need to do is find a quiet corner and surrender your mind to the tailor made embedded messages and stimulations, gain access to your sub conscious mind and reprogram the very core of your spirit, soul, soma, sarx. The power is in your hands, and it is time to grasp it!

Whoever said that technology has nothing to do with astral projection will be in for a big surprise. More and more practitioners of the art have started to get their hands on astral projection mp3. Considered as a binaural beat technology that allows people to transition effectively through out-of-body experiences, this technological masterpiece is definitely unique and inspiring. For the last ten years, further advancements have been done in order to provide hemi-sync technology for people who wish to participate in retreats that use the same technological devices. The phenomenon all started with Robert Monroe, a financial mogul who is also an astral travel practitioner.

Robert Monroe personally documented his out-of-body experiences with the use of traditional diagnosis. As he further engrossed himself in the study of astral travel, he also started working on sound technology, thereby discovering the uniqueness of astral projection mp3. With the use of its music, people are able to fully explore and revisit different dimensions in the realm of astral projection. He labeled this sound technology as a “hemi-sync”, which allows the brain to conduct synchronized waves that aid in concentration and meditation. The discovery was soon introduced to differed institutions in support of astral travel. People found the out-of-body experience more soothing and effective with music to serve as their guidance. With a distinct melody that reaches to your inner core, the body is able to completely relax and free itself from inhibitions and worries. In just a few minutes, people are able to achieve astral projection in complete focus and relaxation.

If you’ve done much meditation at all, you’ve almost certainly had to deal with distractions. It can be so frustrating when a dog barking interrupts you when you only have a few minutes available to meditate. Learning to meditate through distractions is a really valuable skill to have.

A large part of this is simply changing the way that we think about these distractions. If a cars brakes irritates you but rain falling is soothing, then it’s just a matter of changing how you define these sounds to yourself. If you can change the way you think about sounds then you’re going to be able to meditate through anything. You can use every noise to deepen your experience of meditation, rather than distracting you.

If you can really focus on the sound itself, not where it’s coming from. It’s all just a vibration, so there’s no fundamental difference between the soothing rainforest sounds and cars roaring past. Think about the sound as a vibration, not the concept of what the sound means. Try not to judge the sound or define it, just accept it.

Give yourself plenty of time and perseverance to achieve this. You’re only human, sometimes it’ll work great and other times you’ll find yourself getting frustrated by every little noise…that’s fine. Don’t judge the sound and don’t judge yourself either. Accept it and you’ll find that next time that sound will only send you deeper.

Patience is also vital here. As with meditation itself, you need to let the process take time and unfold naturally. Trying to force it won’t help, and will probably hinder your progress.

If you can reach the point where every noise only serves to send you deeper into your meditative state, then you’ll literally be able to meditate wherever you want. You could try meditating in a noisy environment on purpose. Don’t expect too much from the process. This will help to desensitise you to distractions and often, by not expecting much, you’ll find that you achieve a whole lot! Think of it like an investment that you expect a return on a little way down the track.

Another tool that helps immensely is using binaural audio tracks, these take you to a deep level of meditation and block out other sounds too. Many people find this a very easy way to make the most out of the available time that they have to meditate.

Not letting distractions interrupt your meditation is a skill that’s really worth developing. We lead such busy lives that simply finding the time at all can be a challenge so don’t let that time to be ruined because of some rock music off in the distance.

Its important to keep children in touch with the world around them by encouraging them in simpler hobbies. There is no doubt that technology and also computers are an amazing development of the modern age. The question on most parents minds is whether this will affect their child’s social growth. This is a natural concern. Many children spend a lot of time engaged with this technological entertainment. Activities like playing online or video games, surfing the web or online chatting are taking up most of their spare time.

To develop good social skills it is important that children spend adequate time interacting with others in a simpler way. Obviously it is hard for parents to convince children of this. There are many ways to get them into more constructive activities, let us look at a few here:

All children love to play with others their own age. To get the children into something constructive you need to be attentive to their behaviour and let them lead you in the right direction. Activities that only happen once, like a one day event at school or a party can become a regular activity later if the parents accommodate and encourage it. Make the time to accompany the children to show that you are positive about the activity. Children are simple and can tell by your behaviour if you are positive about their activities. If you just get up and go with them and arrange your schedule to suit them then this is a very clear indication to them that you approve. They tell by what you do and not just what you say.

Also try to remember if there was any interests in the past that they liked that can be rekindled now. Don’t just think of sports activities either. Many children are interested in other things for example, try music, painting, model making, cooking, dancing, singing, flower arranging, coin collecting, chess, yoga, meditation, art and crafts, kite flying, sewing, knitting or wood-working, etc.

All these activities with people their own age will help build their self confidence and esteem as well as their respect for others. They will also experience a sense of achievement and fulfilment. This is true for everyone, not just children. We will learn to understand others better by interacting in these ways and it will foster good character.

If there are any disagreements they can be resolved quite easily and painlessly in this kind of face to face living as opposed to the online world. Online they don’t always get resolved so easily and some messy situations can arise leading to someone getting hurt. Real friendships can develop offline in this simpler environment that children can live in, and there are no computers for trouble makers to hide behind.

Creative and artistic hobbies that involve expression through different media (other than electronic) are great ways for children to see that new and advanced technologies are not the answer to everything. There are just some things in life that are better off done simply. They are also more fulfilling. There are many summer workshops, classes and camps that will get kids into a like-minded group.

After children experience these new hobbies and activities, they will incorporate them into their lives and hence will have less time for the less healthy or less constructive pass-times. With just a small “push” in the right direction and some gentle persuasion every child will find some healthy activities and hobbies that they will really enjoy. Be careful never to “push” them into anything that they don’t like and enjoy.
