Brainwave Entrainment Brainwave Entrainment and The Meditator

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

As you become busier and more time-poor you have probably discovered, like so many people, that finding the time to meditate is a real challenge. Without this chance to unplug from the world and reflect on your own life you will find it harder and harder to manage all of the demands on your time.

If you want to learn about how Brainwave Entrainment can help, then you’ll want to read this article. Specifically we’ll discuss how your mood states are controlled, the technology of binaural beats, and how both of these factors aid meditation. After reading this article, you should be able to achieve deep meditation in a fraction of the time.

Research into the human brain has concluded that the internal mood states that we experience are influenced largely by a whole range of external factors existing in our immediate environment; music is one of the most powerful. As our mood states are altered we will also find that our thought processes will be affected as well.

It is probably no surprise to discover the power of music on the brain. After all, the effect of rock music on their crowds is widely known and for young people it is a way for them to feel lose some of their inhibitions and self-conscious nature. On another level, music can intensify emotions and passions and become the trigger for huge social movements, protests and even riots.

This powerful effect can be used to our benefit and with it we can achieve such a relaxed and calm brainwave state that typical emotions like depression, rage, and anxiety disappear. This phenomenon is known as brainwave entrainment and one of the technologies used to create it is binaural beats.

Binaural beats occur when two different frequencies are presented through headphones to the right and left ears. Binaurals tend not to work over loudspeakers; distinct sound separation is important. By ensuring that the difference in frequency between the two sounds matches the frequency of the desired brain state you can actually cause the your brain to entrain. For instance using frequencies of 45Hz and 49Hz would cause an entrainment of 4Hz to occur. This would be the brainwave state of Theta which is ideal for dreaming, deep meditation, and intuition.

By applying binaural beats to your meditation practice you will commonly find that you will quickly experience a feeling of exhilaration and holistic calmness almost as soon as you begin your session. Your brain is being gently slowed and entrained allowing your mind to focus and open up. You can complete brainwave entrainment sessions from between 15 minutes to over an hour and achieve different levels of depth of experience across this range. More and more people have found comfort on the proven fact that, despite all the noise and disarray in the current day’s environment, one can still search out the solace of meditation with the aid of brainwave entrainment.

This article has shown you how meditation in this busy world is possible by using brainwave entrainment tools. We have seen how mood states are governed, how binaural technology has a part to play, and how meditation can be deepened as a result. Now you know how to use brainwave entrainment everyday to achieve relaxation, calm and balance in your life.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain? ?requency following?response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

This ?requency following?response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ?ntrain?to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ?ind-tripping? enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person? starting position, entrainment can be rather ?it and miss?

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you?e probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain? strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

Mastering Your Anxiety

Anxiety seems to be the buzz word of today’s ailments. Almost every one I meet these days, is either suffering from anxiety, or panic attacks. Throughout my life, I have also had periods where I have suffered from anxiety. I have learnt various tips along the way, on how to ease it, and I thought I would share them with you:

– Mindfulness can be anything from meditation, to deep breathing

– Calming exercises, include, yoga, walking and swimming

– Herbs and vitamins: Drink chamomile tea throughout the day. Take some of the following supplements: Gaba, valerian, passion flower, omega oils, kava, magnesium, Have regular vitamin B injections

– A healthy diet, must include loads of fresh fruit and veggies. Drink loads of water. I prefer warm lemon, or ginger water in winter

– Rest if you are feeling anxious, and be sure to take rest breaks throughout the day. Ideally we should all have 9 hours of sleep, but this varies from person to person, as I know my ideal sleep time is about 8 hours

– Alternative remedies, like reflexology, hypnotherapy, and massage always bring us a sense of calm

– Bring nature into your life. A little direct sunlight is ideal for our daily vit D boost. Walk outside, and be aware of all of your 5 senses

– Avoid, or limit alcohol, coffee and sugar. If you don’t have to, then do not go to places, or do things that you find stressful

– Personality points we all need to work on are: Have fun, and laugh more. We can’t control everything, don’t even try. Don’t strive for perfection, rather aim at being the best you can be. Don’t overwhelm yourself, and remember the “no” word when you have too much on your platter

– Tips we can use at home: Learn to do TRE, and practice regularly. Take epsom salts baths weekly. Massage lavender oil on your temples, whenever needed, and put a few drops on your pillow at night

– Learn your triggers, and avoid anxious places. If you have to be somewhere, go with someone as a support system

– Get help and either confide in friends or family, that can support you, or see a professional

– Write down everything, including lists to do, or anything on your mind. Daily journalling or free writing is ideal 1st thing every morning

– Prepare mentally when doing anxious things

– Plan your days, and this way you will never feel overwhelmed

– Take someone with you to places that make you anxious, like to the shops or gym

– Do something you love that relaxes you. I love reading magazines

– Visualisation. Close your eyes, and picture your tranquil place. I always picture myself lying under a tree, on the grass on a sunny day. The rays of sunshine that peep through, gently caressing my body

– Medication if need be. If your anxiety is out of control, I would suggest seeing a doctor, and having medication subscribed. This way you can take the edge off while practising all these techniques, and then wean yourself off it when you are ready

– Lavender is amazing. Grow a lavender plant, even if it is in a pot in your apartment. Rub lavender oil on your temples

– Music

– Epsom salts bath

All of us wish to hold on to youth and the energy and zing associated with it. We all crave for it. But are we doing enough except applying a brighter make-up and dyeing grey hair? Maybe not. Don’t you think you should get moving?

Here are a few ways with the help of which we can stay young for a long, long time to come!

Know Your Body

Before we start exercising to shed flab, we should find out the root cause of the problem so that we can win the battle of the bulge. The excess flab may be due to poor metabolism. Our appetite is controlled by hormones produced by our body and certain chemicals produced by our brains. We should strive to balance our hormones and consume omegas, pumpkin oil, hemp oil, flaxseed oil as they help reduce fat.

Check Inflammation

Inflammation is our body’s natural reaction to injury or infection. Inflammation may sometimes lead to weight gain, which gives rise to lethargy, high blood sugar levels and hormonal imbalances. This can be checked by consuming naturally processed grape seed extract (an excellent antioxidant), green tea extract and mineral extracts.

Combat Oxidative Stress

Oxidative stress can occur either due to a decrease in antioxidant level or due to an excess of free radicals or both. If the living condition surrounding us is polluted or unhygienic, we are working in stressful conditions and not drinking enough water, we might be victims of oxidative stress. It can cause cellular damage, thus accelerating wrinkling and hair loss and might also result in diabetes and weight gain. To combat this, we should increase intake of colorful plant food, green tea and herbal tea to fight it.

Watch your Thyroid

Thyroid is the master metabolic regulator. Its malfunctioning leads to a gamut of problems like depression, anxiety, infertility, pregnancy complications, dry skin and hair, high cholesterol, heart trouble, joint pain and menstrual irregularities. Consume cabbage, sweet potato, corn and pearl millet to boost thyroid functioning.

Liver and Blood

To detoxify our liver, we should consume soy protein, whey water, broccoli, pomegranate, phytonutrients and grape seed extract.

Watch What You Eat

Keeping a watch on what exactly we are eating is extremely important to our overall well being. We should ban processed food from our diet and go for natural foods. Organic extracts should be consumed on a regular basis. Consume all plant food colors possible in a balanced manner.

No Ill Feelings

Hatred or ill feelings towards others reflects on our face. If we delete the bad memories, we would regain a childlike state of happiness.

Keep the Child in You Alive

Never get into the comfort zone. Never think that there is nothing else to do. We should keep the child in us alive by constantly indulging in meaningful activities that makes us happy. Keep on developing new hobbies.

Focus on De-Stressing

Stress can arise from three factors.

Genetic Disposition: We may be prone to certain genetic disorders like diabetes and hypertension. We should be very cautious about such problems and be aware of every minute change that our body displays. If our family history confirms such genetic tendencies, we should be very regular with our check-ups.

Lifestyle: Lifestyle disorders arise from negative habits like smoking, consumption of alcohol, watching too much TV and not eating on time. These result in stress. We should abhor these habits and focus on being physically active which would help in burning calories and staying fit.

Environment: Our offices, our homes, the pollution, our relationships etc. creates our environment. We should try to find out what exactly is pulling us down and then try to find a solution by talking to our peers and well wishers. Always try to look at the brighter side of things.

When under stress, the adrenal gland in our body produces cortisol, a hormone that increases our blood sugar and insulin levels and slows down the burning of fat. Stress increases inflammation which causes weight gain around the waist. We should fight stress by trying to keep our mind free from negatives.

Friends

Friends, who really care, are life long assets of an individual. They have the ability to make things better for you just by their physical presence beside you. Just by taking a look at their smiling faces, you would have a feeling that your worries are fading away.

Chuck the Routine

Life is not just about getting up in the morning, doing the same old stuff all day and then going off to sleep. Instead, listen to some heart warming music, watch a dance performance or go for a drive. Set aside time for daily exercise and relaxation. Do some stretching initially followed by deep breathing for five minutes and then meditation. This goes a long way in relieving mental stress.

Sleep Tight

Lack of sleep reflects on our face. It makes us age faster. We should try to sleep for at least six hours every night. And don’t forget to dream big!

All the Best !!!

Brainwave Entrainment The Dangers of Binaural Beats

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.
brainwave audio | basic meditation
As binaural beats brainwave audios become more popular there is a lot of talk as to how safe they are. When using any product that works directly with your brain frequencies it is important to know what dangers, if any, are involved.

For the majority of people listening to binaural audios is completely safe and very similar to listening to a relaxation or meditation CD or MP3. In fact they are an extremely powerful tool for self development and conscious awakening.

However there are a few groups of people who should not use brainwave entrainment products or who should at least consult with their doctor before they do.

Below is a list of the people who should not use binaural beat recordings.

People who suffer from seizures
For people who have a history of seizures they often experience abnormal electrical impulses from the brain. Since the repeated pulsing of binaural beats work with the electrical frequencies of the brain they can trigger an epileptic seizure or other kinds of seizures in people who are prone to them.

People who suffer from certain ailments
People who suffer from heart problems or wear a pacemaker should definitely consult with their doctor before trying brainwave audios. Changes in your brainwaves can also cause changes in your heart rhythms so it is important for people with heart issues to be aware of this.

Also it has been said that those who take tranquilizers, stimulants, illegal drugs and/or psychoactive drugs should not listen to binaural beats.

Women who are pregnant
It is recommended that women who are pregnant wait until their baby is born before experimenting with brainwave audios. Studies have not confirmed that it is dangerous to the baby but it is a precaution that I think is worth taking.

Children
Although many children do listen to brainwave entrainment software with no problem, it is still recommended that they do not use them. Children tend to be more prone to seizures and although there is a better chance of a seizure being triggered from playing video games, it is still cautioned that children wait until they are older to listen to them.

People engaged in certain activities
Since listening to brainwave recordings can put you into a very relaxed state and even possibly make you fall asleep, it is important that people do not listen to them while operating any machinery or doing any type of activity where falling asleep could be extremely dangerous. For obvious reasons you should be sitting down in a quiet room while you are listening to them.

Those are the only groups of people who should either avoid brainwave software or at least consult with a doctor before listening to them. For everyone else, go right ahead as they are completely safe and extremely beneficial and worth trying.

Lets look at the word SONGWRITING.

The dictionary meaning is ‘writing the music and words of songs’ so that gives us a clue but it doesn’t go deep enough. I propose the meaning should be something like this:

“The process in which a song is created using words and melody”

The word itself is comprised of two words, song and writing. The song part is the end result of a process and the writing part is the process.

Get it!! Without the writing there is no song.

It seems like a simple concept doesn’t it? But it’s amazing how many songs aren’t written rather than the ones that are.

You see, you can talk all you like about verses, choruses, middle-eights, bridges, pre-choruses, the length of the intro and hooks and so on but without the physical activity of writing all of that theory is meaningless.

Personally songwriting is much, much more than the song itself. To me its a whole process. It’s a discipline, a meditation, a way of life really. Without the process the end result (being the song) would not exist.

If we, as songwriters didn’t have a creative process then all of our thought, feelings and songwriting ideas will be random, haphazard and lacking in organisation. How would you be able to sustain a creative songwriting environment with all that disorganisation going on?

In later articles I will be talking about how you can adopt your own process rather than just waiting for inspiration to come your way.

Take the muse by the horns and just write!

The art and practice of meditation has been in transition over the last few years. Twenty years ago, meditation was primarily for the person searching for enlightenment or familiar with Eastern spiritual principles such as Buddhism and transcendental meditation. But in mainstream society today, there is a growing interest in understanding the connection among the body, mind and soul. Magazines like Body & Soul, from the publisher of Martha Stewart Living, Spirituality & Health are exposing our culture to the benefits of meditation in everyday life.

There are many documented benefits of meditation on the overall physical health, mental well being and vitality. The internet is full of examples and statistics with regard to the value of this ancient practice. Meditation gives you the opportunity to step out of the high speed racetrack of life for a few minutes a day. You can cleanse your body of unhealthy feelings and calm the mind to release the stress through quiet reflection and stillness.

Meditation Comforts the Mind

Stephan Bodian, in his introductory meditation book, states that there are 4 outcomes that occur to “soothe the mind” as a result of regular meditation:

1. Awakening to the present moment: When you rush breathlessly from one moment to the next, anticipating another problem or hungering for another pleasure, you miss the beauty and immediacy of the present, which is constantly unfolding before your eyes. Meditation teaches you to slow down and take each moment as it comes and be “really present” in the now.

2. Lightening up: Perhaps you have noticed that nonstop thinking and worrying generate a kind of inner claustrophobia – fears feed on one another, problems get magnified exponentially, and the next thing you know, you are feeling overwhelmed and panicked. Meditation encourages an inner mental spaciousness in which difficult concerns no longer seem threatening and constructive solutions can naturally arise.

3. Feeling more centered, grounded and balanced: To counter the escalating insecurity of life’s chaotic pace, meditation offers an inner groundedness and balance that external circumstances cannot destroy. When you take the time to slow down and be still for even a few minutes a day, you will notice a clear difference in how you face the world. The challenges that appear in your life will be more manageable because you have established a connection with your inner self as a sort of “coming home” to self that is always there. You will no longer get thrown off balance by the “slings and arrows” that life throws at you.

4. Enhanced focus and concentration: By training your mind to focus on the present moment and nothing else through meditation, you will see after some time that this focused attention habit begins to occur also in your waking life. Your concentration and focus will be sharper and allow you to keep your attention on all projects you undertake in different areas of your life.

How to Meditate?

You may ask yourself, “How can I possibly find time to meditate in my busy schedule?

There are many ways to meditate, but they do not need to be complicated or very long. Even 10 minutes a day at the same time every day would be helpful to your physical, mental and emotional health. Over time you can add another 5 minutes and another.

Here are 3 ideas as to how to make time for this necessary practice that your body craves to release stress and recalibrate:

1. Find 10 minutes in your day to set aside to meditate to start with. Just 10 minutes! Choose a time in the day where you can do it a few times a week at the same time. If you can get up 20 minutes earlier than you normally do, before your children rise for school, for example, would give you some quiet time to start your day in balance. After dinner, or when the children are in bed, instead of turning the television on, slip away and sit in silence for 10-15 minutes. Try not to meditate before bedtime, as your body and mind will likely be too tired and can potentially fall asleep. If you only have time late at night, then read some inspirational or uplifting short articles, stories, prayers or poems that you are drawn to. Contemplate them, write some things in a blank journal with some soft music in the background; light a candle. The objective is to spend time in quiet contemplation with yourself to re-balance yourself and not to fall asleep.

2. Make a place available in your home or office where you can sit in silence and not be disturbed. An extra guest room, a corner of your bedroom, an empty office or conference room, can serve as your place of refuge for even a few minutes a day. You can make it attractive for yourself by putting inspirational pictures or favorite keepsakes there. If you make it your own private place, you will be encouraged to return there on a regular basis. Have small candles available to light each time you enter to create a sort of sacred ritual. Have a CD player nearby, where you can play some soft music.

3. Commit to this time you set aside for your body to recover and restore balance. You give time to your family, your job, your friends and even may give time to your body through exercise at the gym. But this time for meditation has a different function for your body to naturally “tune itself up” through silent reflection and stillness. According to Lorin Roche, the founder of Instinctive Meditation, the body instinctively knows how to meditate and does it willingly if you set up the conditions and allow it. Your body actually “craves” this quiet time to return to a state of balance.

There are many excellent guided meditation products for beginners that can help you to follow the exercises offered on the CD and focus on the guided imagery that is suggested.

How to Tame the Gremlins

A gremlin is a little mythical creature who likes to get into trouble and cause mischief wherever it goes. The self talk or “chatter” that runs constantly in your mind is like a gremlin; all the things you still have to do, the worries and concerns that are on your mind, the negative self talk, that inflict doubt and fear into many areas of your consciousness.

While meditation cannot rid you of these pesky little creatures, it can help you to learn how to let them cross through your mind and gently brush them out so that you can concentrate on the stillness.
One way to get rid of the gremlins during meditation is to simply notice them entering your mind and gently brush them through your mind to the other side. Mentally escort them out and return to the meditation practice.

Meditation is an exercise for the body (relaxation and stress relief), the mind (quieting the gremlins and slowing down) and spirit (connection to true self at an inner awareness level).

Take a break from your busy life and make time to meditate. You will see, over time, that your body, mind and spirit will thank you for it.

Tourism is big business these days. It is such a large part of many economies that some towns and cities would be absolutely devastated financially without it. Tourism accounts for a lot of the business generated by the wine industry these days, especially where the concept of wine tours is concerned. As a result, the wine tours project has recently been developed to help wineries by generating business for them and for wine lovers who want to book wines tours to visit various vineyards and enhance their experience. A lot of the wine tours project’s tours will actually match wineries with similar elements and factors in common, the type of grape for example.

Wine Tours Project Management

The wine tours project has the potential to be absolutely huge. I would go as far as to say that it has the potential for global success because of its management strategies. It will be placed under expert supervision so that their working knowledge of wines and wineries will shine through. However, the wine tours project must also include a good deal of imagination in order for it to work. Themed tours or those with fun activities will do better than staid and mundane tours that would only turn the visitor away, or send them to sleep! Every individual tour on the wine tours project list will be interesting and capture the attention of the individual.

The main suggestion put forward by the wine tours project was in conjunction with the materials of wineries – the grape. Various wineries will use the very same types of grape but with very different end results and that has the potential to be absolutely fascinating. It is a fact that grapes will give a distinct wine if processed in a particular way in a specific location. This gives rise to a tour about that grape and thus visiting the wineries that process it. The wine tours project can also be seen as somewhat of an adventure as a result because you could feasibly travel to various locations all over the world to see the different results. The one grape may be processed in California, New York, Australia and Bordeaux. No true wine fan would ever want to miss out on an opportunity like that!

Regional Wine Tours Projects

Very few of the wine tour project tour idea [http://www.bestwinetourguide.com/Napa_Valley_Wine_Tasting_Tours/] are located in various areas around the world. The majority are actually regional so that people can visit a few wineries every day. The range of tours in one region alone can be huge, but the different ones will give an individual several different experiences to take away from their break. In this way, the wine tours project certainly lends itself to the wine enthusiast’s thirst for both wine and knowledge. Every tour is truly and adventure and proves that the idea behind the wine tours project was actually a major brainwave!

What is Your Child’s Dominant Learning Style?

Learning to read with phonics is the proven way to go. Knowing your child’s dominant learning style can help tremendously with the journey. There are four main learning styles which most children and adults fall under. They are visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic. It is possible to learn best within more than one of the groups, but one group will usually be dominant.

When you play a phonics game with your child, it is important to focus on the learning style that she is the most comfortable with and that produces the fastest and easiest results.
I will share some tips with you to help you figure out which one of the four learning styles (visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic) is your child’s dominant learning style.
It’s all about being able to recognize the subtle clues your child is displaying for you. When you work with her on other lessons and in different subjects, you will be able to make it much easier for her and a lot more fun!

Next I will show you the language and behavior of the “visual” learner, followed by the language and behavior of the “auditory” learner. After that we’ll discuss the “tactile” learner. And finally, to wrap up this review on the four learning styles we will discuss the “kinesthetic” learner.

The Visual Learner

To determine whether your child’s dominant learning style is visual notice if she easily gets distracted by clutter or others moving around while she’s working on her phonics reading and trying to concentrate. Does she prefer seeing pictures, words, diagrams, charts, videos, slide shows, and wall posters? How about if she prefers using picture clues and verbal instructions rather than just verbal directions alone when you are playing games?

Other things to consider is if she remembers the faces of new friends and where their play date was pretty easily but then forgets their names, uses words often that ask you to show her rather than tell her something, finds it hard or boring to listen to instructions for more than a few minutes at a time, and finds it easy to conjure up vivid pictorial scenes from her imagination.
If you agree with many of these questions, you’ve got a visual learner on your hands!

With her learning style in mind, here are some tips on how to teach her phonics reading skills and beyond:
1) Use picture cards and moveable alphabets more to help her learn phonics reading.
2) When she gets older, give her the “big picture” of what she is studying and then fill in the details. Teach her how to work with mind maps. Give her the tools she needs to use symbols to represent ideas and organize information. The images will help her to focus and visualize data.
3) If she has to memorize information, have her close her eyes and see what it is that’s she’s memorizing. Tell her to pretend her mind is a camera and she can take pictures of what she needs to memorize.
4) Learning meditation would be an asset too because it will teach her how to “tune out” distractions that would take away her focus.

I think you get the idea…it’s all about teaching visualization and being creative in how you present phonics lessons to your visual learner. Next let’s discuss the auditory learner…

The Auditory Learner

Let’s go through a checklist to see if your child is giving you clues that she’s an auditory learner:
1) Does she easily gets distracted by random sounds or noises while she’s working on her phonics reading and trying to concentrate?
2) Does she prefer listen to a story being told rather than flipping through the pages of the book and looking at the pictures?
3) Does she ask you to “say that again” or “tell me what you said”?
4) Does she prefer you to give her verbal instructions rather than written ones?
5) Does she ask you to play sounding out words more often than not?
6) Does she enjoy listening more than speaking?
7) Do you notice that when she builds words using the picture cards and moveable alphabet…she spends more time in the phase of sounding out the words rather than building them?
8) Does she seek to “hear” and “think” more often than not?
9) Do you notice that she repeats information that she is learning out loud and focuses on what she is repeating intently?

After going through these questions, if you answered the majority of them ‘yes’ then your child is most likely an auditory learner! Here are some tips on how to teach your auditory learner phonics reading as well as other subjects:
*Use tape recorded lessons to help her fully understand at a deeper level whatever lessons she is working on.
*As she gets older and begins studying for her school assignments, quiz and coach her by practicing with oral exams and playing recorded lectures and speeches.
Try to avoid having unnecessary noises in the background while she is studying. Although, it would be a *great idea to play soft classical music that she enjoys because they would enhance her learning.

Next, let’s discuss how a tactile learner will learn the best…

The Tactile Learner

I’ve put together a checklist for you to review to determine if your child is a tactile learner. Please answer
the following questions:
1) Does your child easily get distracted by random movement and activity around her while she’s working on her phonics reading and trying to concentrate?
2) Does she prefer to write down words or write out a story as she has perceived it or wants to tell it?
3) Does she prefer to touch and feel story books with the raised fabric on the pages rather than listen to the story or just flip through the pages and look at the pictures?
4) Does she like to express herself with gestures and movement?
5) Does she like to write her words to see if they feel right to her after she has put them down on paper?

If you answered ‘yes’ to the majority of questions in this checklist, then your child’s dominant learning style is tactile! I have compiled some tips for you to use with your tactile learner for both phonics reading lessons and more:
1) Use flash cards and memory games to help her learn her lessons.
2) Allow her to act out through role playing whatever she is working on…this will make it much easier for her to understand it and to remember it.
3) When she is older and studying for her school assignments, quiz and coach her by enacting scripted plays of what she is working on.
4) Let her build models of what she is studying. This will yield great results!
5) It’s okay to have noise in the background, more than likely, that will not bother her.

It will be hard for your tactile learner to learn if she is forced to sit still for long periods of time. Schedule much needed breaks for her to move around. Also, get her involved in sports, martial arts, dance and the like because anywhere she can move and learn will be her cup of tea.
Finally, let’s discuss how to teach reading with phonics to a kinesthetic learner…

The Kinesthetic Learner

How do you know if your child is a kinesthetic learner? Answer these questions:
1) Does your child easily get distracted by activity around her when she is working on her phonics reading and trying to concentrate?
2) Does she constantly feel the need to get up and move around the classroom?
3) Does she have high energy and enjoy action oriented play?
4) Does she prefer figuring things out on her own rather than following directions?
If your child is a highly energetic, go-getter that needs to move around to be stimulated, you have a kinesthetic learner!

A kinesthetic learner engages in whatever they are trying to learn with full body, physical activity.
When your kinesthetic learner is building words, nine times out of ten she will lie on her stomach and sprawl out comfortably and tune out everything else in the process while she works.
Kinesthetic learners learn as they do. They don’t think about it first and then try to figure it out. They just do it! They understand what they are learning when they are actually doing it.
Never try to pin your kinesthetic learner down to a seat. That would be a big mistake and cause her learning experience to be difficult and negative.

Kinesthetic learners are very creative and artistic. They enjoy and thrive when engaging in scientific experiments. Sports, dramatic play, and dance, are all things that are fun and easy for the kinesthetic learner.

Some other things to know about kinesthetic learners are:
1) Kinesthetic learners have great hand to eye coordination.
2) When they are older students, it’s great to teach them how to use their “mind’s eye” to visualize and recall their own body’s movements when they are trying to recall information from prior lessons. They will benefit greatly from learning this easy technique.
3) Playing music in the background when a kinesthetic learner is studying will be okay and not distract from their learning experience…especially if you are playing upbeat classical music.

Let’s Sum it All Up!

There will probably be some overlap between the four main learning styles that you will observe in your child. After you observe your child and figure out her dominate style, your approach to teaching her phonics reading will be easier and more effective. Were you able to discover which learning style you follow: visual, auditory, tactile, or kinesthetic?

Knowing your child’s dominant learning style is such a benefit because when you want to play phonics games with her, you can just use the games that are geared more towards her specific learning style. Scientific studies have shown that when you engage three senses while performing any given task it becomes permanent knowledge assimilated by the brain after doing it about five times. Thankfully there are products which can teach you how to utilize the four learning styles to teach your child in the best way possible.

I almost didn’t get this article written. There was a saber tooth tiger lurking about.

COME ON! ARE YOU NUTS?

Well, in a way. Here’s the rest of the story.

The human brain is actually three brains working together…most of the time. Each has its own relatively unique set of functions and has acquired and refined its skills over millennia.

The oldest of these brains is often called the reptilian brain. It’s located at the brain stem and actually does look like the brain of an alligator. It is about five hundred MILLION years old. Its main concern is literally the basics. It wakes you up, puts you to sleep, keeps your heart beating…things like that. One of its primary functions is simply survival.

The youngest portion of the brain is called the Cortex. It’s a relative child at about one hundred million years of age, but it’s taken over…most of the time. It likes to write books, compose music and dabble in science. As Barry Manilow might say, it writes the songs. It has the leisure to do this because the other two parts of the brain take care of the simple stuff.

I got those out of the way because I wanted to talk about the midbrain, or mammalian brain, and a particular structure within it. The midbrain’s age is between the other two, at about three hundred million years. Its tasks are a little more complicated than the brain stem’s. It has to control your temperature and fiddle with your emotions for example.

Within the midbrain is a structure called the AMYGDALA. The amygdala is responsible for the “Fight-Or-Flight” mechanism you may have heard about. We generally hear about Fight-Or-Flight in relation to physical fitness and exercise these days, but it also impacts the thought processes, especially those involved with creativity, through this Fight-Or-Flight mechanism.

If you are not familiar with Fight-Or-Flight, in a nutshell it is a system found in animals and humans where the body and brain, when faced with danger, shut down some nonessential activities, move blood around to where it’s needed, ramp up some hormones, damp down some others in order for the Fight-Or-Flightee to survive. We’ll come back to Fight-Or-Flight in a couple of minutes.

Almost every day, I get one or more great ideas for an article, or poem, or essay. You would think that my cortex is responsible for this. Well, it is, but every once in a while, other portions of the brain create some static while trying to do their job.

Back in the days when I worked for somebody else, I would sit at my desk having great idea after great idea. However, when I pick up my pen to write down these great and wonderful things which seemed to be almost fully developed in my head, or when the boss turned to me in a meeting and said, “What do you think?” I would often go totally blank. In fact, simply looking at a blank piece of paper and realizing that some positive outcome is expected of me subconsciously, at least, poses a threat and my brain reacts as if saber tooth tigers were in the area.

What has happened is that my midbrain has perceived a threat, and my Fight-Or-Flight reaction has been activated. You see, that reaction is hard wired in for survival purposes. Unfortunately, the system which controls it is incapable of distinguishing between saber tooth tigers and a blank sheet of paper that is just daring me to put fresh, new ideas on it…or a boss who has just turned to me in a meeting. So what happens? The reptilian brain, which is tasked with survival, tickles the amygdala which turns on the Fight-Or-Flight mechanism, and, as shown above, one of the items considered “nonessential” at that moment is creative thinking. That’s why our minds go blank at moments of crisis. Remember, the portion of the brain controlling this makes little or no distinction between an attack by a saber tooth tiger, the demands of our job or boss, or many of the stresses of modern life! Our caveman ancestors, for example, didn’t have to worry about the IRS, nuclear war, or terrorists. They also weren’t reminded of these things every day when they turned on CNN, and they certainly didn’t have to drive on modern city streets during “rush hour”.

So, having seen how Fight-Or-Flight can affect creativity, what can you do about it?

Almost anything that lets you relax is of value. You will often find me on the patio, sipping a Miller Lite, watching the neighbor’s horses, or just daydreaming as I gaze over the pasture. Within reach is a small hand-held tape recorder. When a thought comes to me, I grab the recorder and murmur a few words into it. Years ago, before hand held recorders, people were advised to keep a pencil and paper nearby and record ideas as they popped up. Ever wake up in the middle of the night with an absolutely fabulous idea only to find it gone in the morning? Some of the great “thinkers” have written those ideas down before going back to sleep.

You see, one of the tricks is to grasp the kernel of the idea at the moment it occurs, which is almost never the moment at which you need it. However, if you have the basic thought available, that will give you the springboard you need to get past the initial fear or uncertainty, and to go on to complete the project.

Meditation, or similar relaxation techniques, is another means of initiating creativity. While the mind is wandering about fields of flowers and butterflies, a portion of the brain is hard at work sifting through ideas and coming up with all sorts of possibilities. If you get into meditation, you will often find that during and immediately after meditating you seem to have quite an insight into problems and quite a few “new” ideas.

Oddly enough, by the way, research seems to show that “creativity” doesn’t hinge that much on new ideas. What is happening is that our brain is putting old ideas and images into new patterns and contexts. That is one reason to remain intellectually involved with the world through the resources available to us. However, it might help to be a little selective. A steady diet of “Friends” might loosen us up for ideas, it doesn’t necessarily provide the raw material that we might get from CNN, Time magazine, or the Discovery and History channels.

Having a “thinking spot” or time can be of help. I find that I am at my most creative in the early hours of the morning when I am most rested and before the cares of the day descend upon me. I also seem to be in some ways more creative when I am seated, as now, in front of the computer reading the words as I type them in. Each new phrase or paragraph seems to remind me of something else I want to say.

Intentionally shifting your focus away from the problem often works as well. Many creative insights arise when a problem is seen in a new form or context. Several times throughout history, so-called creative individuals have solved difficult problems while involved in thought on other subjects.

Finally, realize that if you have been able to accomplish this task or a similar task in the past, you will be able to do it again. It might take a little while for the brain to work on it and to come up with a handle, but you will get there. In fact, being aware that it might take a little time and a few false starts can actually relieve some of the immediate pressure enough to get you rolling…or writing!

brain frequency | chi meditation
The sensation of auditory binaural beats occurs when two coherent sounds of nearly similar frequencies are presented to each ear with stereo headphones or speakers. If the left ear is presented with a steady tone of 200Hz and the right ear a steady tone of 210Hz, these two tones combine in the brain. The brain integrates the two signals, producing a sensation of a third sound called the binaural beat. This 10Hz beat signal is formed entirely by the brain. In binaural harmonic technology the 200Hz and 210Hz frequencies are known as carried frequencies. The frequencies used are pure sine wave generated frequencies.

Binaural beats originate in the brain stem’s superior olivary nucleus, the site of contra lateral integration of auditory input.

The binaural beat is neurologically conveyed to the reticular formation which uses neurotransmitters to initiate changes in brain-wave activity. Binaural beats can be perceived only when the right-ear and left-ear tones used to produce them are of low pitch, usually less than 1500Hz. Brainwave harmonics use carrier frequencies of less than 150Hz. These lower frequencies are thought to be more soothing.

I’m going to give you a quick description of what to expect when you listen to the frequencies.

Phase 1 (induction — still in natural beta state) — You will hear and be conscious of the sound in your headphones. There will be a rushing sound (similar to waves moving from one side of your head to the other) and the low drone of the binuaral carrier sound. You may feel restless, apprehensive, nervous or even irritable at this point.Your brain is reluctant to give up control and will try to distract you. Don’t worry this will pass.

Phase 2 (the alpha phase) — The sound continues but you are less aware of it. You will feel very physically relaxed and may have experienced a deeply relaxing muscular effect; this happens at around 12 Hz. It is a bit like getting into a hot bath after a long days physical activity. The internal chatter will stop and you will feel true peace of mind (This is superb for dealing with stress and anxiety; we use this very specifically on our stress manager and instant meditation products)

The alpha frequency induction products will stop at this point; this will include alpha meditation, instant meditation, stress manager; improve memory, increase IQ, mood elevator & hypnotic induction. Each product focuses on a different dominant frequency. This is very important as random alpha induction (from gentle music or hypnosis) is not accurate enough to get the absolute correct state.

Going into the alpha state is very easily achievable. We would expect you to achieve an altered state of consciousness (into the alpha state) on your very first try with the Mind Sync Brainwave Harmonic system. You may just want to get into a relaxed state and experience all the benefits that the alpha state can bring: stress reduction, curing insomnia, dealing with ADD, improving memory, increasing iq and learning ability, increasing concentration, working with affirmations and imagery.

The alpha meditation at Meditation Course will do this quickly and effectively.

If you want to work more specifically in one area of personal development we have a series of products that will concentrate on each one. Each area is best stimulated by a particular dominant frequency or combination of dominant frequencies. Some examples follow;

The stress manager is the lightest alpha state induction and is superb at taking the edge off stress. In some instances you may not want to be completely de-stressed. Some stress is important for us to function effectively in our day to day lives. We have many students who use this product; before an exam, a big presentation, before or after a difficult class, before that important meeting.

The instant meditation takes things a bit further. This product will completely chill you out. This is perfect for use when you get home from work or school. It allows you to draw a line under the day. You will reach a point where all the internal dialogue stops and you have complete peace of mind. I can assure you that that is a truly wonderful experience If you don’t know it. Make sure you don’t need to do much for an hour or so after you use this – it is that powerful!

The improve memory product helps to declutter the mind so that we file and retrieve (remember) things more effectively. As we get older we get less efficient at doing this. The main reason is that we have too much going on in the mind. It will help most with short term memory but has shown it will improve long term memory too.

Increase IQ helps to sharpen the logical processors in the mind. IQ is actually a measure of how well you do IQ tests. These tend to concentrate on logic and spatial awareness. This one is very, very straightforward. You listen and your IQ rises.

Mood Elevator helps to regulate the correct serotonin levels in the brain. A number of studies have shown that alpha mediation helps with depression — this is why!

Stimulating the brain at a certain frequency will raise serotonin levels (but not above where it needs to be — so don’t worry about overproduction). A great benefit if your feeling down.

A special mention for speed learning here. It works on 2 levels. The first and most obvious is the way it helps with memory, concentration and logical processing (see IQ and memory above). If you listen whilst you study you will study for longer, remember more and be able to retrieve more effectively come exam time.

The second uses the Lozanov (or Mozart) effect. The sound is pulsed at around 50 cycles / second. Experiments in the 1970’s showed that if you paced learning material to the same pulsed beat; your ability to learn and retain material is increased by a factor of 10! They called this the Superlearning effect. I can personally vouch for it working but it does take a lot of preparation. You need to record all of your learning phrases and play them at the same time. It seems to work best with languages and formulae. (I used mnemonic hooks in all the phrases to increase the association)

Phase 3 (theta state) — You are no longer aware of the sound. Images come into your mind. To begin with they are very like dream images and will not be controlled and will disappear quickly. You may find that you fall asleep in your early attempts. Once you gain experience and confidence you will be able to spend longer and be more comfortable in this phase.

The theta frequency induction products will stop at this point; this will include theta meditation, astral projection, sleep improver; remote viewing, past life regression, manifestation, magickal focus, lucid dreaming, psychic, clairvoyance, telepathy, chi generator, precognition, om meditation. Each product focuses on a different dominant frequency or combinations of dominant frequencies. This is even more important than in the alpha range. Once entering the theta state; music and hypnosis will no longer work. At best this approach will help you to fall asleep more quickly but you are unlikely to achieve consistent controlled theta states.

Using Mind sync controlled sweep binaurals is the only consistently successful method to achieve this level of accurate control

Astral projection, Remote Viewing and Past Life Regression all take place in the Theta Phase of our altered consciousness.

Once you have achieved stability and confidence in the sleep borderline environment you will be able to move your awareness around within this visible environment. You will have dissociated from your physical body and are now in what many people call the astral body or the astral vehicle. In some instances you can still see your physical body. This is not as common as popular literature suggests. It is very rare to see a silver cord connecting the astral and the physical bodies.

With experience you will be learn to differentiate the different types of images.

i) The astral and past life images will often have an ethereal quality. The colors will be vibrant and senses will be extremely heightened. There will often be clues that the content is past life related (We have many students who will correlate their experiences with real events or locations on the internet) ii) Remote Viewing images will seem more part of this world (and of course they are). Many students have likened this to watching a live remote camera where you have control over angle, zoom and position. You are not visible in these situations. iii) With Astral projection you mostly have control over what you do and where you go (many have suggested that this is a similar experience to wake induce lucid dreaming — I am personally inclined to agree but would suggest that Dream Induce Lucid Dreaming is a different state and experience — more of that in a later newsletter) Sometimes you can feel that you are being led and this can be exciting. However you do always maintain control.

Also a quick word about the differences between the astral, super astral and oobe frequencies. As mentioned the astral frequencies work in the theta phase and help to stabilize the sleep borderline state. The oobe frequencies go into a deeper state of consciousness than this. The dominant frequencies are almost into the delta range. This has the tendency to slow down the image stream so that you have more control over your interaction. However as the oobe frequencies take you well beyond the normal sleep threshold it is more likely that you will fall asleep to begin with.

The super astral program is much longer than the standard astral or oobe frequency sets. It has a much longer induction period which helps students who have some resistance to brainwave entrainment. It also has a much longer stabilization period. It is ideal for students who have more time to spend on their astral journeys (you will need to listen for whole 70 minutes).

The psychic development products also work in the lower theta range and include; Psychic Amplifier, Clairvoyance, Precognition and Telepathy.

The demonstration and reproduction of psychic abilities has always been inconsistent and difficult to prove conclusively. Where psychic activity has been produced under laboratory conditions it has invariably been associated with bursts of theta activity. If you stimulate this theta activity directly it is possible to generate psychic activity at will.

The Clairvoyance and Precognition programs have been developed to be used over time. They will increase your psychic faculties the more they are used.

The Clairvoyance is used to develop you clairvoyant, clairaudient and clairsentient ability. Within a few weeks you will have a much higher sense of what is around you. You will also tend to know instinctively what you need to do (many people use a pendulum for this – you don’t necessarily need it once this faculty is developed)

The Precognition program is used to develop your ability to see the future (this will happen almost entirely in your dreams). The majority of the precognitive dreams you have will be of mundane events (this has been completely correlated to the deja vu feelings most of us experience — whenever you get deja vu it means that you dreamt that exact series of events some time previously) but it is possible (but rare) to have precognition of future catastrophic events or lottery wins. We have had a number of students who have reported horse racing predictions or lottery wins. I would strongly recommend you start to keep a dream diary.

The Psychic Amplifier is exactly that. It works in real time to help you hear/channel spirit/angelic/higher self voices more clearly. The first half of the program uses the binaural sound frequencies to create the exact brainwave state for hearing spirit/angelic/higher self voices more clearly. The second half of the program is pure white sound (like a hiss or detuned radio). This has been shown to be the best medium to amplify spirit/angel/higher self voices to their maximum. This process is commonly used by psychic investigators. There is no danger associated with this approach.

The Telepathy product is best used with 2 people. (You don’t need to buy 2 copies – no harm in sharing it with one other person). If the same dominant theta frequency is created in both brains it acts like a carrier frequency. You will then find it very easy to transmit information from one to the other. Images are best as the brain likes to work with pictures.

We have had some students who have reported enhanced mind reading ability after a few months working with the telepathy product. The telepathy product was not designed for this but it is certainly possible to develop this faculty.

Phase 4 (delta state) — The images that you experienced in the theta state become slower and more controllable (this is good for OOBE). Eventually they will cease all together. At this point you will often feel a connectedness with the universe or your chosen godhead. It is very difficult to describe accurately as there are very few frames of reference in modern language. The closest is probably the ecstasy, nirvanic or samadhi state. You will almost certainly find that you fall asleep in your early attempts (some of the healing frequencies like HGH will still be working even if you do fall asleep).

The delta frequency induction products include delta meditation, out of body (oobe), HGH, epsilon & shaman. Again, each product focuses on a different dominant frequency or combinations of dominant frequencies. This is even more important than in the alpha and theta range. Once entering the delta state only controlled sweep binaurals will control the dominant frequencies accurately. Musical accompaniment or spoken words will distract the brain, making it virtually impossible to stay in the delta state.

The chakra frequencies work in a slightly different way.The chakra frequencies will very quickly set up a dominant harmonic in the brains electrical activity spectrum (it does it more quickly than many of our other products as no induction period is needed – this has another big advantage which i will explain later).

The chakra will then start to resonate in harmony with the dominant frequency in the brain. This stimulation will clear any blockages in that particular chakra allowing energy to flow more easily through the energy pathways.

After 10 minutes the frequencies change and we set up a new dominant electrical frequency in the brain. This stimulates the next chakra in the same way as the first.

We repeat this process for all 7 chakra; working, in sequence, from root to crown.

Now getting back to that big advantage!

You can use the chakra frequencies set whilst you are doing other things (reading, studying, working out, watching tv, etc, etc) because the chakras are indirectly stimulated by frequencies in the beta (normal alert and awake state) range; so there is no need for quietness or meditative states to get the best out of this.

We get a lot of students who have immediate and massive beneficial effects from the chakra frequencies. If you have any dis-ease that is caused by energy imbalance or blockage; the chakra frequencies will get rid of it very quickly. We have a lot of testimonials for healing after only one or 2 uses of the chakra frequency system. You are welcome to take a look at a selection of them at chakra frequencies

We have other healing products too: endorphin release is another product that can be used in any environment and without the need to meditate. It can help with mild pain relief and managing cravings.

HGH stim works in the delta range but is equally effective whether you are awake or asleep. This product uses a very specific combination of frequencies that stimulate the pituitary gland. We have some very encouraging testimonials about its effect on ageing and age related disease. You can read a selection of the testimonials at HGH

The energizer is a simple pick me up program. Again, it can be used anywhere, anytime. It temporarily raises the electrical activity in the brain and is similar to the effect of caffeine.

A special word about Manifestation, cosmic ordering and the laws of attraction and abundance: Many of you will have read or heard of the Cosmic Ordering books by Barbel Mohr. For those of you who haven’t — cosmic ordering is about asking the Universe for whatever you want or need — and it arrives (like magic). I can tell you that it works – if it is done correctly!

It is very, very important to make your requests (or orders) in the right frame of mind (literally).

From our experience this is a process that works best in the theta range but with some higher activity also stimulated (it will work just using orders in theta but a lot more slowly). It does also rely on you being very clear about what it is that you want (we have found the clearer the better — no ambiguity) and believing absolutely that it will improve your life (again any doubts and it will not happen).

Our Manifestation frequency sets are designed to do exactly that. Take a look at Manifestation and linked pages for more explanation of the process and the different types of manifestation that are possible.

Remember if you create the correct dominant brain frequency, you are clear in what you want and believe that you will get it — YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU WANT.

We have also combined the use of binaural sound and the harmonic effect with hypnotherapy and neuro linguistic programming. We have worked extensively with hypnotherapists and NLP practitioners to develop this approach. It was found that the user or practitioner could induce a significantly more suggestible state when using the correct sound harmonic. We have created a downloadable or CD version of this induction frequency; details of which can be found at HYPNOSIS

We have also created a series of harmonics coded with specific NLP suggestions.

NLP, is the science of how the brain codes learning and experience. This coding affects all communication and behavior. It affects how you learn and how you experience the world around you. It is a key to reaching goals, breaking habits, solving problems and learning new behaviors.

You will also find a huge number of downloadable NLP scripts that can be used independently or in conjunction with the above.

More details can be found from HYPNOSIS. We also use superliminal suggestion. Superliminal suggestion is used to bypass the logical filters. The instruction is specifically coded to make it difficult for the left side of the brain to understand it. The right side of the brain is then left to create the correct, unquestioned imagery required to create the new habit or state.
