For those who don’t know John Lennon, here’s a brief scenario (John Winston Lennon), October 09, 1940 – December 08, 1980. Born in Liverpool, England John was a member of the Beatles, a prolific songwriter, and also had a successful solo career. He was shot and killed as he entered his apartment building in New York City. He was 40.

It is hard to believe that it has been 30 years since one of the beacons of light that shined upon our consciousness and our world was extinguished. John Lennon touched the lives of so many people with his music, his strong views about peace, and stopping war. He was willing to expose all parts of himself the good and the not so good. Yet, he always remained true to himself.

I was twelve years old when the Beatles came to America, and I was immediately drawn to the humor of John Lennon. He demonstrated his intelligence in any interview given. The music of the Beatles was magic at that time, and it certainly lit a fire under me that has not extinguished to this day. I was fortunate to see the Beatles perform live three times fortunately I was close to the stage the last time I saw them, and it was indescribable.

John was always the most outspoken, and, at one point in 1966, he was condemned in the United States because of stating that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus. He was not saying that they were greater than Jesus but just that their popularity extended farther. It was the truth at that time. From then on he received death threats and was told that he would be assassinated during their 1966 United States tour. This is one of the main reasons the Beatles stopped performing live.

Fame was a great pressure on John, and he looked for other avenues to explore having conquered the world. He discovered LSD and used it to open up his creativity. From there he discovered meditation and went to India to practice and learn from a master. He met Yoko Ono, and they fell in love even though they were both married at the time. He felt Yoko was his soul mate, and they were together until the end of his life.

They started a movement for peace and love. He gained new world recognition for his peace movement and his views against all wars. He expressed his views through his music and many people paid attention. His goal was to have people get along and follow the path of love and peace. For a time John went into seclusion, but in 1980 he was making a comeback with a new album, the first in five years, and ready to get back into his many causes.

Unfortunately there was a man who was jealous of John’s fame and success and decided that he could obtain some fame by killing John Lennon. And on a cold December night he did the unthinkable.

I was driving in my car when I heard the announcement of his death on the radio; it was surreal. Was I having a nightmare? I kept changing the radio channels, and the news was the same that someone had murdered John in cold blood. How could John Lennon be killed so senselessly? The irony of his violent death shocked the world. This man, who had delivered so many messages of love and peace, had been taken out in such a violent manner; it was just unthinkable.

Rather than dwell on his murder I want to remember all that he did in his short 40 years. He definitely kept me aware of what was going on in the world through his music and his peaceful demonstrations. He gave a voice to the consciousness that so many were feeling and unable to find the words or ways to express it. John did.

This year holds so many memories of John because he would have turned 70 years old and 30 years since his death. Ironically he was killed on the birthday of Jim Morrison, singer, songwriter, and poet of The Doors, who if he would have lived would be 67 years old this year. So many brilliant men have gone, but their words and music live on.

Each year new people discover John Lennon for the first time. In Havana, Cuba, they have a wonderful bronze statue of John Lennon sitting casually on a park bench as though he is observing those who pass by. Recently a teenager in the Dominican Republic asked me if I knew who John Lennon was. I just had to smile at that question.

Worldwide he is loved. His legacy will never be forgotten.

In My Life by the Beatles
“There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all.”

If you are wanting to know the answer to the question “why I can’t sleep at night” then congratulations you have come to the right place! 1 in 3 Americans have experienced some sort of sleep problems at one stage of their lives so it is a very common problem. However few people know what to do to cure this problem. In fact the chances are that a simple change is all that is required to guarantee you a good nights sleep. So with this in mind, here are 5 actions that you can take to aid sleep.

Regular bedtime schedule

Your body is very good at adapting to all things routine and this goes for your sleep. If you can get into a sleep schedule whereby you try to go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning, then your body will soon get used to this and will prepare itself accordingly. If you can maintain this schedule even on weekends or non working days then this will almost certainly aid your sleep. It is when the body has to start to play “catch up” with sporadic sleep times that things start to go a little awry. Here’s a fact for you! For every hour outside of your sleep routine It takes 1 day for your body’s internal clock to realign itself. This is why good sleep schedules are vital.

Relaxing bedtime routine

Okay, so you are in your bedtime routine however, you have had a pretty stressful day. The boss has been on your case to hand in that work that should have been done two days ago. You have got a million and one things to think about and there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Stress is another big cause of sleep problems. So how do you overcome this?

The things that you can do are:

Give yourself an hour before bedtime to unwind. It may be that you take a relaxing bath, do some Yoga or deep breathing exercises or simply listen to some chilled music or some meditation cd’s. Whatever you choose, try to give yourself that time before going to sleep. As just doing these simple things might give you the answer to “why I can’ t sleep at night!”

Bedroom surroundings

So let’ s get to the bedroom itself! In order to promote good sleep it is probably a good idea that you make your environment as relaxing as possible and that means your bedroom. There are four things you need to do in order to fulfil this. That is to make your bedroom Quiet, Dark, Comfortable and Cool
These are the things that your body needs most to enable it to prepare for sleep mode and give you the best chance of a good nights sleep.

Avoid Eating

Obviously I don’t mean to avoid eating totally! Instead I mean try to avoid eating at least 3-4 hours before bedtime. This is because it takes the body this length of time to properly digest food. You see when the body digests food the brain is trying to coordinate this and therefore its main focus is not on preparing the body for sleep. If you do have to eat something before going to bed, avoid spicy or fatty foods as these take longest to digest. Instead eat small healthy snacks such as a piece of fruit or food stuffs that contain complex carbohydrates.

Avoid caffeine and nicotine

Caffeine takes anything up to 5 hours to leave the body and is of course a stimulant. It can inhibit the production of Seratonin which is necessary for sleep preparation. Nicotine also stimulates endorphins within the body which in turn release adrenalin. So if you really want to sleep soundly, then avoid that last cup of coffee and a cigarette at least 5 hours before going to bed.

Taking action by making small changes such as the ones above can indeed answer the question “why I can’ t sleep at night” however this is just the tip of the iceberg. You see it’s not just about the quantity of sleep you get, it’ s about the quality!

you’re no one. Your value just went down the chute! Same with all the other things you attach yourself to, your car, your house and your money. Poof, they’re gone, and so is your essence. Bull!

Learning to let go of your Ego allows you to let go of any attachment to material things and the need to control your surroundings, people in your life and all your stuff. “But wait Steve, aren’t we here to learn how to manifest more stuff?” Well, yes. It’s a bit counter intuitive isn’t it? We’re back to ‘letting go, and letting God’.

At this point I hope you get the point that you need to allow yourself to just be, without any attachments to outcomes or results. It’s when you let go that the things you want in life begin to appear. You have an internal guidance system, your true self, that points you in the right direction to happiness and fulfillment (yes, and the stuff), you just need to remember who you really are and tap into that.

You knew when you were a kid how to have fun and be happy. I bet you had more fun with a cardboard box and a crayon than whatever came in the box. Somewhere along the line, you just forgot how to do it. Now I’m going to give you some tools with which you can remember.

Let’s begin with gratitude. When was the last time you were really thankful for the things you already have? A home to live in, a car to drive or the food you eat every day? When was the last time you really tasted and savored the food you eat? I’m not trying to beat your down here, or guilt you like your Mom did about the starving kids in China or Africa. I’m just saying slow down and really, really appreciate your corn flakes, or your kids or that fact that your car starts most mornings. Be completely grateful for what you have without thinking about what you don’t have. OK? OK.

I’ll give you more Manifestation tools in Part Three, but first….. Let meditate!

So, hopefully you have been practicing at least 5 minutes a day, and congratulations if you are! Maybe you are even up to 20 minutes a day, KUDO’s to you! (Just a small ego stroke for ya, ha ha.) Go to place where you prefer to have your quiet time. Again, this should be a place where you wont be disturbed and preferably darkened. If you like, light some candles and your favorite incense. Now find some nice music to play in the background. There are plenty of meditation CD’s you can purchase for this purpose, don’t worry if you don’t have any right now though.

Sit either on the floor, in a chair or on cushions that will allow you to keep your back straight up and down. Keeping your spine erect helps allow the energy to flow through you easily and keeps you ‘grounded’ during the meditation. There are two ways I suggest you hold your hands. Either place your hands on your legs near your knees, palms up, with your index fingers and thumbs lightly touching, or hands overlapping, again, palms up, in your lap and forming a kind of cup. Choose whatever is most comfortable and feels right for you.

Breath in taking full deep breaths, allowing your diaphragm to fully expand, pause for a few seconds and exhale completely, expelling all the air in your lungs. Continue to focus on this method of breathing for a few minutes until it becomes natural and rhythmic and you begin to feel relaxed. Now think about something you are grateful for, for the next several minutes. Allow yourself to feel total joy around this experience.

Next, think about something you would like to manifest in your life. Imagine already having it in your possession. Feel the joy it brings you to have this thing right now. Completely focus on the feeling of already having in your life. If thoughts creep up like “I can’t ever get that” or “That would be nice, someday” gently let go of these thoughts and return your focus on the feeling of having it today, right now!

Continue focusing on the object of your desire for about 5 minutes, then return your focus on your breathing. Simply let go of any thoughts you have. As your mind wanders, and it will, take notice and just redirect your thought to your breath.

When you are ready, begin to slowly return your consciousness to the room you are in, and become aware of your surroundings. Ahhhhhhh, I bet that felt great! Remember not to judge your meditation, you will get better and better the more you practice.

Keep up this new meditation daily if possible. Each time you may choose to focus on the same thing you want to manifest, or something different each time. Just be as consistent as you can. Next time, more tools sweep away your Ego and more meditation techniques to manifest the life of your dreams.

meditation music The Two Main Factors to Have a Spiritual Awakening

If you want to attain self realization or have a spiritual awakening, there are two important factors you need to consider.

The first spiritual awakening step is to realize through awareness that you are consciousness and immerse yourself in that experience.

Although it is good to intellectually understand that you are consciousness, that in itself will not lead you to have a spiritual awakening. You have to first realize through self inquiry or witness consciousness that you are consciousness itself.

Here are two meditation techniques that will directly lead you to experiencing that you are consciousness.

In the practice of self inquiry you keep turning your attention back upon itself. You may silently ask “who am I?” or “what is consciousness?” to help bring your attention back to what is here prior to thought and then feel that. At first you may only experience yourself as consciousness for a 1/2 a second before getting caught up in thinking again but through practice you will be able to experience yourself as awareness more and more.

In witnessing, you simply allow thoughts to come but you witness them instead of identifying with them. You first do this by allowing thoughts to come and go. You consciously relinquish the thoughts as they arise. You don’t push them away, you passively do not hold on to thoughts. Then you will get to a point where you notice thoughts arise and disappear by themselves while you rest in your pure state of awareness itself. You are aware thinking happening but you remain uninvolved.

Both of these techniques will bring you to the first step of spiritual awakening where you realize directly without a doubt that you are consciousness itself. That you exist completely free from the mind and body as consciousness itself.

The second step is to remain in this realization. Because thoughts will pull you out of this experience quite often. So meditation is the practice of remaining in this state of pure consciousness for longer durations until that experience of being pure consciousness becomes dominant.

These practices above are perfect to attain self realization or have a spiritual awakening but they are not complete. A second factor is needed.

And the second factor for having a spiritual awakening is Shakti. Shaktipat is spiritual energy. You could call it grace, you could call it deeksha. It is the energy of pure consciousness. It is consciousness in the form of energy. And it is has the full intelligence to transform and awaken you into enlightenment. You can actually feel Shakti as a vibration, as bliss, as peace, as love or as a nurturing energy. But it is the Shakti itself which causes spiritual awakening, which takes you to self realization.

When you receive Shakti, you can actually feel it awakening every part of your body and mind into unconditional peace and bliss.

For Shakti to work, you must receive Shakti which we will talk about in a moment but once you receive it you also have to value it by giving it your attention. You allow the Shakti to do its work on your body and mind through meditation and allowing yourself to experience what you are feeling. This too comes through awareness. You begin to be able to immerse your attention in the sensation of Shakti.

There are two methods to receive Shakti. The main way is through an enlightened Guru. By being in the presence of an enlightened guru, you receive Shakti and easily attain deep states of meditation and peace.

The second method is through sound. Through advances in audio recording, Shakti can be recorded and transformed into sound. So simply by listening to some unique meditation music, you easily attain deep states of meditation and spiritual awakening happens naturally. The great thing about this is you can receive Shakti-bliss in your own home or wherever you go. You do not have to get involved with any specific path or belief systems, Shakti is there just by pressing play on your CD player.

brain frequency | relaxing music to go to sleep
Lately, I’ve had a hard time staying focused. With the recent back-to-back hurricanes, fires out west, Mexican earthquakes, ongoing political unrest, global tragedies, and racial disparity, I’ve found myself dipping more and more into my NY Times app, and social media, for continual updates.

There’s a lot going on in the world. And, it’s Autumn. Time to get back to work and back into focus.

If only it were that easy.

No matter where you find the chaos, whether it’s in the outside world, inside your home, or within your mind, it can be hard to focus when chaos is all around you.

I’m a sensitive person, and I often find it very difficult to tune out the chaos. The sensitive part of me just loves to dive in to fix things. (Or at least imagine fixing things.)

I have to be quite vigilant with myself, especially during times of chaos and transition, in order to stay on track and focused. Here some of the techniques I use myself, and which I share with my clients.

Meditate: Meditation helps to discipline your mind. As little as 5 minutes a day, consistently, will help you develop a sense of centered focus. This is a place you can return to over and over again. I start each day with either a 20-minute, or hour-long meditation. When I miss a day, I feel off center. It’s that simple.

Schedule Your Media Visits – Turn off distracting notifications on your cell phone and computer and close your email reader. Decide upon specific times to look at news, social media, and anything else that pulls you down the rabbit hole. It’s amazing how easy it is to focus without all those continual electronic interruptions.

Try Focus @ will — I love this service. Focus @ will offers a variety of musical choices designed to help keep you on track. I listen to it when I write, and when I’m in creation mode. It really helps. (In fact, I’m listening right now.)

Take breaks – Take regular breaks to flush out your mind. Even a 5 minute break can work wonders. Use this time to take a walk, sit quietly, breathe, dance, stretch, sing, create, or meditate. This will help you clear your mind from overwhelm, allowing it to focus much more easily.

Set Boundaries – Set boundaries for yourself. If you’re a sensitive person like I am, boundaries are absolutely crucial. It can feel hard to create boundaries, especially if you’re sensitive, but it’s essential for finding focus. Your boundaries might include: regularly scheduled alone-time, saying no to countless volunteer jobs, clearly communicating how you expect to be treated, and limiting your time around people who drain you. Setting clear boundaries can be one of the most rejuvenating things you’ll ever do for yourself.

Try EFT Tapping – At the start of a session with some of my clients, we frequently do a round or two of tapping just to help focus the mind. Tapping will help you clear the fog of an overactive mind, and bring you back into your body. If you’re familiar with the tapping points, tap a few rounds to release distractions, and help yourself feel grounded and centered before you work.

Use Creative Visualization – Just the act of using your mind to visualize something will help bring you into focus. If, for example, you’d like to focus on a project or task, first visualize it. Visualize how you would like the experience to unfold. See yourself as focused, and enjoying your work. Do this visualization for 2-5 minutes. Then, start your work.

Use Your Breath – Most times when we’re distracted, we’re actually dissociated, or in a mindless state. This is a perfect time to use deep breathing to help you come back into your body. As you’re breathing, close your eyes, and watch your breath. Consciously send your breath to all parts of your body. Allow your breath to bring you back to the present moment, where focus resides.

Let me know how these techniques work for you. I’d love to know!

In Courage,

Marian

We may use it for different reasons, it may sound different, and we may use different instruments to produce the sound, but we all listen to music.

People are defined by the music they listen to. Music is so much more than just audio gratification. Music relaxes us, transports us, makes us happy, makes us sad, makes us mad, makes us laugh, makes us cry, and everything in between. The reason for this is the powerful mental and emotional triggers that music plays on.

In fact, each musical genre is kind of like a culture of its own. Just think about it, you can almost always tell what kind of music a person likes and listens to just by the way they dress. The punk rockers, the country type, the rap, hip/hop, and other urban genre crew, the reggae crowd, the hard rockers. They all have their own unique lifestyle and dress that is defined by their music.

Music is used for many different reasons by all different kinds of people and societies. Many people use it as entertainment. Athletes use it to pump up for competition. Some use it to spark memories and reminisce. Others listen to it to meditate or pray. Some use it as a way to escape from reality and transport their minds.

We need to understand that music is not just a novelty, it is a key part of life. A world without music is hard to imagine. Just try to imagine a day without music. Sure if you are backpacking or out in the wilderness you may not hear traditional music. But, even nature plays music. The insects, the birds, the wind…they all sing their own tune.

Think about the effect music has on you when you are watching a movie. It completely sets the mood, the tone, and brings out the emotions in the audience. Music will make you scared, it will make you laugh, it will bring out your sentimental side during a romantic flick, in sad movies the right track will get the tears flowing and the noses blowing. Music is very powerful, and it triggers huge emotional response in all of us.

It is impossible for me to imagine living my life without music. I am so reliant on my music to get me through a day. My music makes me feel good, it makes me relax, and it provides my mind with a necessary escape. This day and age there isn’t a single one of us who couldn’t use an escape.

Now, with beat software you can produce your own music. This takes you listening experience to a whole different level. Listening to music that you recorded is an amazing feeling. Sharing your music with others is even more gratifying.

Self limiting beliefs and negativity are our biggest obstacles when it comes to reaching the success that we are all capable of obtaining. They are the killer of dreams and the destroyers of happiness. But where did they come? And an even better question is “how the heck do we get rid of them?”

Self limiting beliefs and negativity are both learned habits which we acquire while growing up. If we are criticized when we are growing up then we we are just as hard and critical of ourselves when we become adults.

Think about it. When we were babies we were not self-conscious, negative or fearful about anything. We would cry, wet ourselves or burp and not care a bit of what other people thought of us. I dare you to try that now.:)

The good thing about learned habits is that we have the capability to unlearn them or at the very least replace them with positive habits. The best way to do this is by going on what famous author Brian Tracy coined a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) diet. In essence is a like brainwashing yourself with positive thoughts.

I want to share with you my PMA diet which I follow everyday which has had a profound effect on my self-esteem, success and overall happiness.

Monitor Your Thoughts
First you need to know what it is you are telling yourself on a daily basis. The best way to identify your negative mind chatter is by your emotions. If your are feeling angry, overwhelmed or sad, you should observe what your thoughts are telling you. Then either substitute the negative thought for a positive one or simply banish the thought altogether by placing your concentration on the task at hand.

Use Affirmations Daily
Use positive affirmations everyday. The most effective technique I found was recording my own affirmations to my cell phone while playing soft meditation music in the background. I think your own voice is so much more powerful & believable to your subconscious mind. And because I have my cell phone with me at all times, it so much more convenient for me to listen anytime, any place.

Read Self Development Books Daily
Make it a priority to read a minimum of 20-30 minutes everyday. I find that reading first thing in the morning works best for me. It actually gets me fired up to start my day! Some of my favorites are “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield and “Maximum Achievement” by Brian Tracy.

Listen to Motivational Audios Daily
Make sure you have a few motivational audios in your car so you can listen when you are driving to and from work. Audios are one of my favorites because they have the power to instantly empower me and they allow me to be a bit lazy. Some of my favorites are Les brown, Brian Tracy and Anthony Robbins.

Turn off the Tube
Limit your exposure to television especially the news. Watching negative television can sabotage your positive mindset. If you are truly serious about success then we both know that there a lot better things we can be doing with our time. I don’t watch television at all anymore and I don’t miss it one bit. On the weekends I try to only watch movies which I think are positive.

Exercise and Nutrition
If you are not already, make it a point to start exercising & following a nutritional diet. Getting fit & feeling healthy can skyrocket your self esteem through roof! Self love is the most important factor when breaking the chains of self-limitation. For me there can be no better way to show self love than by striving for optimum health.

Billion Dollar Secrets I Stole From my Previous Employer

I learned many things from advertising, including how to instantly and rapidly generate big ideas to explode your income. I’ll begin by tackling the definition.

What is a Big Idea?

A big idea especially as relevant to our industry involves combining the “knew” and the “new”.

‘New’ is something totally unrelated to the industry and ‘knew’ is something existing within the industry. When you combine them, you come up with something innovative which explodes your profits.

They may be ‘big ideas’ in terms of advertising campaigns, products, marketing or sales strategy.

Most people say that you can replicate success by using tried and true methods; many say that copywriting is swiping a few files to replicate success. It works in some cases but if you want to take your success to a whole new level, you need a big idea.

Clayton Marketplace says his biggest winners in terms of his copywriting and his letters were based on big ideas which, in their time, were almost revolutionary in nature. It’s from such big ideas that accelerated growth can happen.

If you follow a predictable route, the growth will be predictable. Predictably high, perhaps, but if you want to go to the next level you need a big idea.

If I had to describe the foundation for big ideas, I’d talk about a monkey sitting at a typewriter. A thousand typing monkeys locked up in a room over a century will be able to produce work the quality of Shakespeare. What I mean is, when it comes to big ideas, it’s all about the numbers. The eureka moment; the ‘aha’ moment is a myth. It’s about quantity not quality.

How do you generate Big Ideas?

You don’t sit there and meditate and suddenly one big idea comes out…No, really. It doesn’t happen like that.

You sit down, and generate 50 ideas. Or 100 ideas. Or even better, 300 ideas. And from there, I bet you that at least one of them will be good enough to explode your business to the next level. That’s the foundation -it’s always a numbers game.

But, how do you generate as many ideas as you can, you’re wondering? There are some who regard themselves gurus who can generate brilliant, problem-solving profit-booming ideas, instantly. However, the rest of us mere mortals need to keep trying and pushing.

This was how, in my previous life, I got hired as a copywriter although I had no prior experience. My boss told me to generate as many ideas as possible for three products. They didn’t have to be good ideas, but I had to come up with as many fresh angles as possible.

Within the space of 3hours, I came up with 300 ideas…and I was hired on the spot.

This is the key:

Be Avant-garde Outside Your Own domain.

This key isn’t just for generating big ideas, but for success in anything -even my success in advertising. In my time in advertising during which I won numerous awards, I attribute my success to this key. What’s interesting is this: this key isn’t from any business book.

It was actually from an author by the name of Edmund White on a commentary on Salon.com. He observed that artists are mostly only avant-garde in their own domains. Although they expose themselves to the finest of their own field, everything else they take in is just like what everyone else is taking in.

For example, as a marketer, if you want to be the best in your field, don’t just study your field, marketing. When you do this, you create an incestuous loop, and you won’t create new ideas because they’re based on something someone else in marketing has done before. Even if you read many direct marketing and entrepreneurial books, you’re still going round the same circle.

But, if you step out of that domain, if you start, in the words of Brian Vaszily, “immersing yourself in genius”, where you immerse yourself in the greatest form of human expression and creativity in every single field, good ideas will come out from there.

Imagine that fruit are ideas and the soil is your imagination. The fertilizer then is to make sure that the soil is fertile and produces as much fruit as possible…that fertilizer consists of ideas outside your own domain, outside the realm of marketing.

But, here’s a disclaimer:

The statement says no artist is avant-garde outside his own domain, and this basically means you MUST be an artist to begin with.

This means that in order for this to work, you must master marketing first. Before an outside idea can work, you must know the rules of Internet marketing before you can tap into being avant-garde outside your own domain.

If you are not a master of your own domain, if you are avant-garde outside your domain, everything will crumble because you don’t have the proper foundation to know what’s good or what works in your field.

Most copywriters say that to succeed in your industry, you have to be an expert in your field and in your products because when you know your product inside out, you can express it in new ways. It’s probably part of the secret behind Agora’s success.

There are many ways to tap into generating big ideas, but below are two fairly instant, practical ways to go about doing this. You have to immerse yourself in genius, in music and the arts, in different specialty magazines -you may find some good ideas. This is what I sometimes do. I call it funnel vision in practice.

How to generate a Big Idea

Funnel vision is a concept by Jay Abraham, the basic idea of which is this: if you look outside your own field into another domain, whatever is there -their cliches and norms -take them and apply them to your field and your products will soar. It’s instant innovation, and there are two practical ways to do it.

i. From the Inside, Looking Out

Dan Kennedy says to list down all the norms of your industry -its standard picture poses, usual phraseology, etc. And then, you break and/or twist them, one by one.

ii. From the Outside, Looking In

Take another industry, list their traits and cliches, and apply them in your industry and in every aspect of how you run your business. E.g. if you take the example of an airline where they have free tickets and a check-in counter, think of how you would apply these to your business.

You can generate a lot of ideas using these two techniques. Listing the norms may take you a while, and just by twisting them you already have 20-30 ideas off the bat.

Overnight Test

To illustrate this, I would use the example of somebody sleeping. That’s how simple it is. In advertising, it’s called the overnight test.

A good idea at that time may be the most contemptible of ideas in the morning. You might think it a genius idea when you first come up with it, you might find it amazing, but sleep over it first and see if it’s still a ‘genius idea’ in the morning.

If, in the morning, you are still equally excited about it, it most likely means yes, it is a good idea because it has passed the overnight test.

There are other idea-generating methods, and I’ll continue sharing these with you.
