Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

It is definite that we are all mortal and one day we will meet up with our maker. After reading Bill Bryson’s book ‘A Short History of Nearly Everything’ one would agree that there is very little we know about the universe we all live in. It is a miracle that we all exist. Our position in the universe, such as distance within the solar system and combination of the gases in our atmosphere allows us to enjoy our unique existence. It is yet to be known if any other form of life exists in the universe. The Hindu reincarnation philosophy talks about previous and future births which we do not know if they exist (at least it’s message is clear that be good in this birth if you want to benefit in next birth, if everyone does that then there would be perpetual bliss and eventual peace in this world). The reality is that we exist today and we have this precious life to experience. So do not throw away this unique existence we have.
There must be a reason why we all exist. I personally feel that during my existence if I can bring smiles on few faces then my existence has been fruitful. The problem is that we have all become greedy and we have succumbed to many desires. To fulfill them we continue to stay self centred and stopped being generous.
I lost my mother recently. After her death I realised how much goodwill she commanded amongst family and friends due to her generous nature. She had no financial assets and the only thing she had was just HERSELF, and that was her contribution to all around her. I always feel fortunate to have come across many noble people in my life and I always exclaim ‘they do not make them any more’.
Our life is like a long train journey and during that journey we will reach our final destination. We will come across many co-travellers during the journey. Some will leave us when their station has come and may rejoin us in the later part of our journey.
During our journey we may come across many bridges and tunnels and would sigh with relief when we cross them. Some times we may go on a roller coaster ride or sometimes we may go through the experience of being on a static or dynamic Ferris wheel.
So do not panic that you are getting old. This is a natural phenomenon and just enjoy getting older. Stay contented and stay generous. Remember the third of Sir Issac Newton’s laws of physics ‘Every Action has an Equal and Opposite Reaction?’ Your impact on others will eventually bounce back; Let it be a positive impact.
Just keep those grey cells ticking and enjoy every minute you live. Remember: Past is History, Future is a mystery, the current moment is a precious gift that’s why it is called PRESENT. Live it and enjoy it fully.
I leave with you Words of Osho, as below:
THE SECRET OF THE MYSTIC ROSE
Unless you blossom into a mystic rose, your life is nothing but an exercise in utter futility. You are born unnecessarily, you are living unnecessarily, and you will die unnecessarily. Your whole biography can be reduced to a single word: unnecessary.
But, if you can blossom and release that which is hidden in you, you have fulfilled the longing of existence. You have given back to existence the fragrance that was hidden in your seed. You have come to fulfill your destiny.
Man is only a beginning, and one should not die as a beginning. That is ugly, insulting, and damaging to your dignity. Man should reach to the absolute fulfillment, not only for his contentment, but for the contentment of the cosmos. That is the secret of the mystic rose.
Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain? ?requency following?response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.
This ?requency following?response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ?ntrain?to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.
On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.
Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.
THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ?ind-tripping? enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.
While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.
We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person? starting position, entrainment can be rather ?it and miss?
If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you?e probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain? strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.
