One of the most common questions people ask about meditation is, “how do I get rid of thoughts during meditation?”

The short answer is, “you don’t.”

Now, you might think that may sound harsh, but it’s the truth. And it’s complete freedom!

In the past, when I tried meditating, I was told (or somehow led to believe) that meditation was about getting rid of thought. Of course, I failed at meditation. I remember my first meditation being extremely painful because of all the thoughts. After the meditation, I didn’t feel any better because I felt like a complete and utter failure.

Believing that meditation is about getting rid of thought will set anyone up for failure.

I’ll never forget the scene from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy where the crew is walking through the desert and one of the men says, “I was thinking…” and a big shovel comes up and hits him in the face. They continue walking and he says “I thought that…” and the shovel again comes up and smacks him in the face. They make the connection that every time they think a thought, the shovel will come up and hit them in the face. So someone says, “Okay everyone, don’t think,” and the shovel comes up and hits him in the face. Then you see the entire crew running through the desert getting bonked with shovels in their faces.

That’s what happens when you try to get rid of the thoughts! When you tell yourself to stop thinking about what’s for dinner tonight, all you can think about is what’s for dinner! And here’s the cold hard truth, the only time you will EVER get rid of thought is when you’re dead. Even Buddhist monks who have practiced meditation since young ages, have thoughts during meditation. Here’s the key:

Meditation is NOT about getting rid of thought, it’s about becoming the OBSERVER of thought.

You might want to read that sentence again because it’s important!

When I check in with people, in our 21 day meditation circles, and they express that they noticed they had lots of thoughts during the meditation, I tell them to celebrate the fact that they noticed all the thoughts!

Just by noticing the thoughts, they have become the observer of thought. Just the fact that you are aware of the thoughts means you have dis-identified from them.
Most of the time we aren’t even aware of the incessant mind chatter that is going on non-stop, so to even notice the thoughts is a great!

When you notice the thought you have become the witnessing Presence. And this is truly the gift of meditation, to become the observer of thought instead of the “reactor.”

So, what does it mean to be the observer of thought?

Let’s say you’re sitting down to meditate. You have cultivated the practice of meditation in your daily life. But as you are meditating the thought comes into your mind, “I wonder what we’re having for dinner?” You notice the thought, just as you’d notice a cloud floating by and then you’re done with it, you direct your attention back to meditation and feel the aliveness within.

Contrast that to this: You sit down to meditate. As you are meditating the thought comes to mind, “I wonder what we’re having for dinner?” Then you think “I hope we’re not going to have onions. I hate onions.” Then the thought comes to mind, “That reminds me, I’ve got to go to the store tomorrow and get toilet paper.” Then, “When am I going to find time to go to the store tomorrow when I have such a hectic day at the office?” Then you think, “I really don’t like what I’m doing, I wish I could do something else,” then your mind wanders “but how would we make ends meet financially if I were to do something different?” Then you think “I shouldn’t have tried to make my parents proud of me by going to law school, I should have stuck with music which was my real passion.” Then you think, “but the music industry is hard to break into.” Then you think “but Celine Dion did it. If one person can do it, I can do it too.” Then you wonder, “what would I do if I had all that money?” Then that thought leads to, “I’d buy a bigger house with a jacuzzi bath, I’ve always wanted a jacuzzi bath and a three car garage and music studio.” Then you think, “what am I thinking? There’s no way I can do anything about my situation, I’m trapped!” Then you wonder, “what’s the purpose of life any way? There’s got to be more than this daily grind!” All this from the original thought “I wonder what we’re having for dinner?” Exhausting!

Becoming the observer of thought means you notice the thought you just don’t follow it out. You don’t have to become wrapped up in it! You don’t get sucked in to the drama! You’re not attached to the thought.

I remember once, after starting a regular meditation practice, that I was working on some project and for a moment I had those self-limiting thoughts we all have, I thought “I can’t do this project.” And it was like it wasn’t even me saying it. I noticed the thought and smiled like, “hmmmm, that was interesting.” Then I was done with it!

The most important thing I could tell any beginning mediator is to not try and get rid of the thoughts. Observe them, notice them, and then go back to whatever “technique” you were working with for your meditation. Continue to do this, as it’s a practice, especially when first starting meditation. In this way, you are slowly becoming the observer of thought instead of the reactor and this is a powerful “place” to be!

The fact has been overtly discussed until today, however, as human nature implies, we don’t seem to show half as much ease at “doing” things that are pro-health and lifestyle, as we show it while talking about them. Anyway, if talking is at least capable of making people aware about things, it is not completely useless.

Health, which refers to both – physical as well as mental; and lifestyle, which is both – the means and the outcome of your vigor, are quite closely knitted concepts. In order to attain both one needs to undertake few practices and techniques that eventually lead him to the “healthy lifestyle”.

Dancing can be pretty healthy apart from entertaining. Every dance type has some pro-fitness moves, but it’s Zumba that is developed as an altogether dance fitness program. Developed by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez in 90s, Zumba dance combines Latin and international music with dance in an effort to make exercise fun. Music is the key ingredient of Zumba Pilates, which transitions the workout from one toning / strengthening / cardio moves to another with specific beats and tempo variations.

Zumba is of five kinds:
• Zumba – It includes basic rhythms like salsa, belly dance, waltz, flamenco, tango, samba, etc.
• Zumba Gold – This kind addresses the adult-age specific anatomical, physiological, and psychological needs.
• Zumba Toning – As the name suggests, it is developed to tone the body, as well as for calorie burning and strength training.
• Aqua Zumba – This is similar to water aerobics, and is designed to be safe for all age-groups.
• Zumbatomic – This is the Zumba program for kids between the age group of 4 and 12, and uses urban dance styles like hip-hop and pop. The motive behind this program is to encourage coordination, discipline, confidence, and teamwork.

If such dance techniques are one thing, another is Pilates. This is also a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates from Germany. In short time Mat Pilates has seen such a popularity that as of now there are way over 11 million people practicing it on a regular basis. Based on principles of breathing, alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, flow of efficiency or movement, and flexibility; this program is focused at core postural muscles that help us keep our body balanced and support our spine.

If fat-burning and body-sculpting dance is a western technique, the east has given the world a hardcore scientific and incredibly effective practice that takes care of your body and mind, called “Yoga”. There are different sorts of Yoga available thru the Yoga courses, which are aimed at benefitting different people, from different age-groups, with different lifestyles, and with different needs.

Beginner’s Yoga is a practice that anyone with, no experience of Yoga, can start with. It involves different stretching and muscle relaxing Aasana’s (poses) that eventually give you a better posture and eradicate numerous problems, causing improved blood circulation, better functioning of organs, warming up of the muscles, flexibility of the bones, and many more things.
Many Yoga courses are specifically designed to benefit a particular group of people. One of such kind is Prenatal Yoga, which is designed exclusively for pregnant women. The main motive of the Prenatal Yoga Workshops is to keep the health of the mother and the inborn baby intact, and also help the mother keep herself in shape. It is also driven to make the delivery process less painful and trouble-free.

One more concept that has emerged lately is Mommy and Me Yoga, which contemplates upon mother practicing yoga with her kids to instill good ways of lifestyle and health in them. These Yoga Workshops’ objective is to keep both – the mother and the child – in each others’ comfort during the stretches.

Kids’ Yoga is another model that is made for kids ranging from toddlers to teens. Kids’ Yoga also offers private Yoga therapy to kids with special needs. It includes dynamic movements, postures, breathing exercises, and meditation.

Such Yoga techniques are generally considered Gentle Yoga, since they are driven to benefit people, who are in a delicate stage of their health, for instance pregnant women or small kids. Nonetheless, there are few Yoga practices that are helpful to relieve strain in your muscles and bones. Such Yoga for stiff bodies includes Yoga Fit, massages, and Senior Yoga. It aims at curing body tension for people, who work out, do body-straining work, travel a lot, or simply old aged people, whose bones and muscles are not as healthy as they used to be some years back.

Is it possible to learn how to deal with anxiety without taking prescription medications? The short answer is yes, but you have to be willing to understand that you have a disorder first.

We all deal with some sort of anxiety and stress throughout our daily lives. However, there are certain situations that cause such stress, that people just can’t seem to handle them. This can often lead to psychological and physical problems. Sometimes, these people will try to deal with these difficult situations by turning to alcohol or drugs, which they can become addicted to. Still, other people become addicted to prescription medications which were intended to help their disorder. Fortunately, there are several different stress management and anxiety coping methods you can use to deal with your anxiety disorder.

The First 3 Steps For Managing Anxiety Without Medication

Your first step towards successfully managing your anxiety or stress is to identify the factors, situations, or people who are causing this stress. By knowing the exact causes, you will then be able to confront these things and plan your life accordingly.

Your next step to dealing with your anxiety should be to take a break from the stressful situations you are currently experiencing. It is very important to make time for yourself to reorganize, reflect, and then handle the issue or problem with a fresh perspective on things.

You can also deal with your anxiety without medication by changing the way that you react to certain situations or things that cause this stress in the first place. Start to prioritize and focus on just one situation at a time. It will help if you have a support group, and if you are with someone that you can share your questions and concerns with.

How To Deal With Anxiety Going Foreword

Once you have completed the steps above, you will be ready to “let it go”. However, letting go of this excessive stress will take some practice, but you must learn how to do it. When you feel stressed out, try focusing your mind on something else. This will help you from becoming overwhelmed. There are other stress management techniques you can use such as meditation, writing a journal, listening to music, exercise, doing something you enjoy, laughing, and reading can all be very helpful when you are trying to learn how to deal with anxiety.

Some other great ways to manage anxiety without medication include getting a good nights sleep each and every night, regular exercise, and properly nourishing your body. Your body and mind will need to be strong and healthy for you to better handle any stressful situation. Eat lean proteins, vegetables, fruits and whole grains as part of your regular diet so that you can increase your energy levels. Exercising regularly will help supply oxygen to every single cell in your body, which will help you operate at your best.

Another great way on how to deal with anxiety without medication, is to think positively and try to avoid worrying about things that don’t matter. This does not mean that you shouldn’t allow yourself to have wishes and dreams, but if you suffer from chronic anxiety and are unable to get rid of the symptoms, then it may be time to seek professional help.

On Halloween day of 2006 I learned I had breast cancer. As I watched my 7 year old son bounce out the door in his Star Wars costume, it seemed the world, as I knew it, was over. I felt ambushed, kidnapped and thrown in the trunk of a speeding car going I had no clue where. I was trapped, panic stricken, gripped by a tsunami of terror that just kept crashing over me again and again. I knew I had to survive, not just for myself, but for my husband and my young son who needed me.

Today I am healthy, happy, and looking forward to celebrating that benchmark, 5 years cancer-free, with my family. It’s been a rough ride, but I’m grateful to have survived and learned a few important things along the way. If you, or someone you know is going through this I hope these tips will help you.

Upon receiving news like this your first job is to calm yourself… focus and conserve your energy. Stress is your enemy. It will drain you mentally and weaken you physically. As you prepare for the battle ahead you must get it under control as much as you possibly can. I used prayer, meditation and deep breathing to help me deal with feeling overwhelmed and anxious. You might prefer exercise, or a warm bath with tranquil music. Find what works for you and do it.
Learn as much as you can about your diagnosis and proposed treatment ASAP. I researched on the computer everything I could find about my diagnosis. Do this daily, but only for a few hours then stop-otherwise cancer will consume you and you will make yourself crazy. Knowing the basic terms, procedures and tests will help you communicate more effectively with your doctor, and you’ll make better more informed decisions regarding your treatment. If you are not good on the computer, ask someone who is to help you. You get a lot of stuff thrown at you at once, and you have to make decisions fairly quickly, so the more you understand the pros and cons of each recommended step-the better your outcome. I found that doctors will rarely mention side effects or possible serious consequences to treatments, surgery, tests, or medication they are prescribing. You might still opt to go ahead with whatever, but at least you will know the risks of what you are signing up for. Also, arming yourself with the relevant info will help restore some small semblance of control over your own destiny.
Doctors may be the experts on cancer, but you are the expert on you. The first doctor that diagnosed me was a much respected surgeon. She was aspirating some benign cysts in my breasts. After the exam, sonogram and procedure she rushed off to the next patient. But while dressing I noticed a small hard lump still remained in my breast. I knew something was not right. I called her back, and annoyed, she returned to examine me. She did a needle biopsy on the spot, and a week later-upon delivering the grim cancer diagnosis-she told me it was good I had found the lump because she had missed it and would have sent me on my merry way. I promptly fired her by the way, and found a great doctor who was thorough and never too busy to listen. And because I realized that I was the expert on me, I probably saved my own life that day. So never feel intimidated to speak up if you are uncomfortable, or notice something amiss.
Doctors, even the best ones, only know what they know. There are simply too many clinical trials, studies, developments, and alternative therapies to keep up with everything. A good doctor will welcome a knowledgeable pro-active patient, and seriously consider viable options you have researched. After surgery and radiation therapy my oncologist (head of the department) recommended chemotherapy. I agreed, but was apprehensive. After researching her treatment plan I found a study that showed better outcomes– for my specific cancer and condition-with a different treatment plan. I printed out the study, showed it to my oncologist, and after reviewing it and doing some research herself to verify the results, she agreed it was a better course of treatment for me. I love that woman. Because she was open-minded and willing to listen and learn, I dodged a bullet and avoided unnecessary and damaging chemo. Pick a doctor you trust and have faith in, but always research and retain control of your treatment. If necessary, get a second opinion. After all, it’s your life on the line.
You can still feel womanly and attractive after a mastectomy. No woman welcomes a radical surgery like losing one or both breasts. I struggled with it and just really dreaded the whole thing. I cried as they wheeled me into surgery. But the truth is, while not ideal, it hasn’t been as bad as I thought. With advancements in reconstructive surgery some women come out looking better than when they went in! If you do not have to have radiation, they can do your reconstruction at the same time as your mastectomy. You will get the best result if your oncology surgeon and plastic surgeon consult and work together on your surgery. If you must have radiation, they can insert an expander in the breast pocket to prepare for implants after radiation. The most important thing is to take exceptionally good care of your skin during and after radiation to achieve the best possible cosmetic outcome. I used aloe vera from a real plant, a fantastic cream called Biafine, and a sunblock with a 50+ SPF. If you choose not to have reconstruction, know that there are many pretty mastectomy bras (often covered by insurance), and fashionable mastectomy swimsuits available that you can wear with comfort and confidence. Borrow a secret from top Hollywood stars and use natural looking silicone enhancers, nicknamed “chicken cutlets” to restore symmetry, or enhance the size and shape of your bosom.
There are things you can do to help yourself heal and stay healthy. Fighting a serious illness like cancer, you almost can’t help becoming a professional patient and feeling vulnerable and dependent on your doctors. But at home, your main focus, at any stage of treatment, should be repairing and fortifying your immune system. Some things you could and should do to help yourself are…get plenty of rest(mind and body)…eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables… take vitamins and targeted supplements to repair and build your immune system…and exercise as soon as you feel up to it. Sometimes chemo patients have no appetite. And even though I bypassed chemo, I still found it hard to consume the optimum amount of healthy food servings each day. Here are some tricks that helped me. Juicing is the best way to get concentrated doses of your fresh fruit and veggies. But honestly, it requires a lot of fruit, prep work, and clean up for a few glasses of fresh juice. I did juice. But when I felt too lazy (which was often) I made smoothies in the blender with frozen fruit, OJ and bananas. Buy cut up fruit or vegetable salads to make it easy to reach for a healthy snack. And make a big pot of fresh vegetable soup at the start of the week. That way, you’ll have a ready supply of healthy meals for when you don’t feel like eating heavy or cooking for that matter. Even my family asks for my homemade vegetable soup!
I’m stronger than I thought and I’m betting so are you. I had to make peace with the fact that certain things I could control, and the rest was out of my hands. But one thing I could control was my attitude. A positive attitude is your first line of defense, and is essential to survival and your quality of life. I focused on the fact that, today, the vast majority of people, with early enough intervention, survive breast cancer. Even people with a later stage diagnosis do survive. If they could, I could. None of us has an expiration date stamped on our forehead. One of the things I searched for most were stories from survivors for inspiration, information, comfort and proof, that I could make it. I took a hard look at my priorities, and realized that If my time was limited, I wanted it to be meaningful, productive and crammed with joyful, silly moments, and good times surrounded by family and friends. And if I was lucky enough to be around for a long time, well then I wanted the same thing! So at the end of the day I came to the conclusion that you gotta live like you’re gonna live. And when I look back over the last 4 years, I have to say that despite the inconvenience of cancer, life has been good. And it ain’t over yet!

Today’s review is a little different in that we will be comparing two devices that I have already reviewed in the past: The Heartmath emWave Personal Stress Reliever and The RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device. Let me begin by saying that I really like both devices and that a lot of thought went into this review. Both devices are similar in some ways and very different in others. However, they are both effective at helping you relieve stress and lower your blood pressure – so, in that respect they are clearly both winners.

The Similarities

I suppose I should begin by explaining the ways the two devices are similar. Both the emWave and RESPeRATE devices allow you to lower blood pressure and stress levels by helping you learn to control and slow your breathing pattern. The concept is nothing new and is one that has been taught in Yoga and other self meditation disciplines for centuries. Given the right circumstances, both devices are able to lower blood pressure fast and with regular use will train you to keep your lower blood pressure level and indeed, teach you how to control your blood pressure. Of course, such reduction is relative and it may well be that medication is required. However, if the cause or at least part of the cause of your hypertension is stress related, one of these devices should help you feel a whole lot better!

The idea is simple – if you can breathe in and out in a slower and more relaxed manner, your heart does not work as hard and you become calmer. The result is a much lower blood pressure and stress level. Not too difficult to understand, but not everyone can achieve the desired results on their own – that is where either of these machines can help.

The Differences

While both the emWave Personal Stress Reliever and the RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device can help you to achieve a therapeutic state of slowed breathing and relaxation, the approach the two devices bring to the task differs considerably.

The emWave Device

The emWave Personal Stress Reliever uses a thumb pressure monitor and series of flashing LED lights to help you monitor stress levels and to control your breathing. To operate the machine, you simply press your thumb on the sensor and the device will determine your current stress level based on the rate of your heartbeat and pulse. The result is then interpreted by the device and expressed by means of the blinking lights.

The device will by means of the flashing lights then signal you when to breathe in and out in order to help you lengthen the duration between breaths that, after a few minutes, results in a calmer and more relaxed frame of mind. The relaxed state causes more relaxed breathing and slowing of the pulse which in turn reduces the stress on the heart – thus lowering blood pressure. The device also comes with an ear sensor, which can be used in place of the thumb sensor.

The RESPeRATE Device

The RESPeRATE Blood Pressure Lowering Device uses a totally different method to help you control your breathing. Where the Heartmath emWave uses a thumb or ear sensor, the RESPeRATE uses a sensor belt; and where the emWave uses the flashing lights, the RESPeRATE uses musical tones.

When using the RESPeRATE device, you strap the sensor belt around your chest or waist and that monitors your heartbeat and pulse. Then, you put on the headphones. After the machine detects your pulse rhythm, the device will begin to play a series of pleasing and melodic tones. The first tone signals when you should breathe in and the second, when to breathe out.

The machine increases the duration of the tones until you are taking only about 10 breaths a minute – which is a very calm and relaxing breathing level. Once the user achieves the more relaxed breathing state, it will be seen that stress is lowered as is blood pressure (just like with the emWave device).

The Conclusion

Because both of these machines are effective in helping to slow breathing and reduce blood pressure and stress levels, choosing one over the other is rather difficult. However, a decision must be made. So, my final verdict is thus:

If you can afford the $250 – $300 price tag of the RESPeRATE device, then it is possibly easier and more enjoyable to use. Some may find the headphones and musical melodies more naturally relaxing compared to a thumb or ear sensor and having to constantly stare at the flashing lights. On the other hand, the $199 price tag of the emWave device makes it a much more attractive in terms of affordability. Both products have their ardent supporters!

What is the Summer Solstice? Typically seen as the longest day of the year. The ancients celebrated this day as a herald of what is to come. As a point where we reflect on the past and predict our future. Solstice was seen as a point of history to measure our evolution as the human race.

So how far have we come?

The solstice celebrations over centuries were also heralding the “new era”. The time when consciousness would evolve to a certain point where we no longer had war, where humans were evolved enough to live in peace, to have resolved conflict and find new ways of coming together. And Solstice – was always a time for communities to come and celebrate and have a good party. It was like a neighborhood block party where everyone came out and just partied, no matter what had gone down before you came together to commemorate what kept up the common good.

The way you perceive “how far we have come” is the key to where your personal evolution is at. We are not near the age of peace yet, but we are at a turning point. And it is your personal journey and evolution that decides the fate of human consciousness and whether the new era will truly be an age of peace or age we say “we just couldn’t make it happen”.

What is the “new era?”

It really is something new under the sun.

The “new era” is heralding new ways of being, thinking, feeling and relating for all of us.

With these new ways, we are being asked to:

* let go of outdated modes of operating in relationships

* to create CLEAR boundaries and define for ourselves what is important based on stepping into NEW ways of experiencing JOY in our emotions and our bodies

* to redefine how we relate to our body

The body is no longer a vessel for work. The new era is truly asking us to step into our joy and understand how we find joy in our lives that is outside how much we owe, what we do or what we think we are – and step into an authentic embodied place where we can connect more fully to ourselves.

In the meditation circle I have created called “Earth Healing” we sit in a group and align our body to the rhythms, music and pulsation of our own rhythms. Much like the ancient sufi’s who would whirl and dance to feel the vibration of their central channel – we will explore our own core being and central channel in the body – to see what pulsation we can feel through our body.

The meditation circle acts as a vibratory “pulse” barometer through our own bodies to sense what the planet’s core is asking us to become aware of.

Participants listen to messages from their own body about what needs to be awakened, or paid attention to, and connect to their OWN HEALING ability so that they are more empowered to unlock their own potential.

You may also receive insights as to what you are required to “let go of” in order to move into your “new era”.

Most importantly, these circles are opportunity for you to step into what you wish to create in YOUR “new era”.

Brainwave Entrainment Can Binaural Beats Really Help Me?

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

Binaural Beats are not necessarily new, being that the effect was first discovered in 1839, by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove. The way they are used today, is helping more people cope with the day, to day stress, that we have to manage with in our busy lives.

Binaural Beats changes the frequency of your Brainwave activity, which causes chemical reactions, that allows states of heightened awareness, mood elevation, improved memory and overall relaxation. The real benefits of Binaural Beats comes, when you use them for a prolonged period of time. Thus, regulating your state of mind to the threshold of those frequencies.

Binaural Beats work by having two separate carrier tones, with slightly different frequencies, played in each ear. That is why you must use earphones to get results. Your mind combines the two tones that are hidden on the surface level and only your mind can hear the missing tone. When you put a frequency in one ear at 420 HZ and in the other 430 HZ, your brain creates the 10 HZ, which is called, “entrain”. The human ear can only hear between 20 to 20,000 Hz, so you will not be able to hear a tone with a frequency of only 10 Hz. When entrain occurs, it adds the frequency of the 10 HZ to your brain pattern, in this way you can put your mind in altered states. These states are Alpha, Beta, Delta, Theta, and Gamma. In these states, a person can apply meditation and affirmation techniques with more effectiveness.

While listening to Binaural Beats is a good idea and it will calm you and sooth your senses. I recommend that you use Binaural Beats with powerful affirmations. The power of affirmations is already known and it is widely practiced in Eastern philosophies. Being in a Western civilization, that is not based on this adherence, it promotes a challenge because the right frame of mind is not there. In Western civilization more emphasis is placed on the external. So, by combining an external technology like Binaural Beats, it allows the brain, to be more impressionable. This then opens up the mind, to receive deeper implanted messages. With these empowering and positive messages, it gets down to the core of the person and over time creates a new way of thinking about life and self.

This ?requency following?response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ?ntrain?to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone. It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

THE HYPE
There is a lot of marketing hype around brainwave entrainment. It is sold with promises of increasing IQ, promoting weight loss, ?ind-tripping? enhancing creativity, concentration, inducing spiritual states and more.

While these claims are not entirely true, they are not altogether false either. In practice, the claims are based on an overly-simplistic view of how the brain and the brainwaves function.
THE RUB
People are very seldom deficient in a certain brainwave type in all areas of their brain. Usually the distribution is much spottier, with an excess in one area and a deficiency in another.

We are all different, especially when it comes to the distribution of our brainwaves. Boosting a certain brainwave state may be beneficial for one person, and emotionally uncomfortable for another. Without knowing each person? starting position, entrainment can be rather ?it and miss?

If brainwave entrainment leaves you with unwanted side-effects (see below) or discomfort, you?e probably encouraging a range of brainwaves that are already excessive in some area of your brain. The way around this is to get a brain map to see what your brain? strengths and weaknesses are, and see what (if any) brainwaves could use some encouragement.

Meditation music is music performed to aid in the practice of meditation. It can have a specific religious content, but also more recently has been associated with modern composers who use meditation techniques in their process of composition, or who compose such music with no particular religious group as a focus.

The Shakuhachi Flute is Japan’s most popular woodwind instrument. This Shakuhachi Flute has been used by Zen Buddhists as a tool for meditation and at the same time an instrument to play Japanese folk music, jazz or classical music. The Japanese Flute is usually made from the very bottom of a bamboo stalk or bamboo tree, but versions now exist in ABS and hardwoods. According to the experts the name shakuhachi is derived from the term “isshaku hassun” meaning one shaku and eight suns (1.8 Japanese feet). Usually the term shakuhachi refers to the standard size of the instrument, which is 54.5 cm in length, but it can also refer to many different sizes ranging from 1.3 – 2.5 shaku (39.4 – 75.7 cm) and longer.

Today the Shakuhachi Flute is becoming popular not only with Japanese people or Zen Buddhists but also to people of all ages that are musically inclined and love to collect different types of musical instruments. The Japanese bamboo flute is perhaps the simplest non-percussive instrument ever created. This instrument has no keys or pads like the flute that you can see in Western music. There are no strings like guitars or violins and no inner mechanisms like in the piano and the Shakuhachi has no mouthpiece like a saxophone or trumpet. Indeed the Shakuhachi is one of the simple musical instruments that you can play and get a wonderful and soothing sound from. The Shakuhachi Bamboo Flute has only five finger holes, which is fewer than any other flute or any other wind instrument. To play a note, your mouth and lips have got to become part of the instrument. In spite of its simple construction, the Shakuhachi can create an incredibly broad range of musical sounds.

You need to take a good care of your Shakuhachi Bamboo Flute. Clean the Shakuhachi with a clean and soft cloth to remove the dust and moisture that could damage the functionality of the flute. Another thing to remember is to keep the flute properly stored in a case. Make sure that they are kept away from possible harmful elements like direct sunlight, fire and water.

If you want to have a Shakuhachi Flute but don’t know where to buy one; you can start looking on the Internet as there are website these days that offer different types of Shakuhachi Flutes, Japanese flutes and bamboo flutes. However just make sure that the instrument you buy is of high quality materials, well-made and affordable.

Brainwave Entrainment Therapeutic Uses For Audio – Using Sound to Improve Your Life

Sound is such a fundamental aspect of human life that we often take it for granted. In all its forms it affects us very deeply in so many ways. As my wife shreds old documents by the dozens, the sound of that machine sets my teeth on edge, causing me to feel a bit stressed. On the other hand, the sound of water gently flowing or wind blowing through the trees has the opposite effect on my mood. Music is a great example. It can motivate, calm, or induce almost any emotion. I could go on with this but I’m guessing you get the idea.

Once you can record and create good quality audio from you home recording studio, you may wonder what, other than songs and voice-overs, can you do with this capability. Here are few powerful uses for recorded audio you may not have thought of.

Hypnosis
Hypnosis tapes/CDs are common ways to help people improve their lives. Now you can customize these recordings for you own use or as a product to sell on line.

Binaural Beats
Related to hypnosis is the practice of biofeedback to help people control their heart rates and induce certain brainwave frequencies known to be associated with certain moods. One method for achieving this is called “brainwave entrainment,” which is the practice of inducing specific frequencies through the use of audio. By listening, in headphones, to two different tones (one for each ear), you set up something called binaural beats. If you want more focus, you set up beats in the “beta” range. For relaxation, you go for “alpha,” a slower frequency. Once your brainwaves start to match the beating rhythm, your mood begins to follow that change.

White Noise
White noise sounds a bit like a TV tuned to a channel it doesn’t get. I’ve heard it described as sounding like: “Constant wind whooshing through the leaves of lots of trees. Water continuously falling down a waterfall. Sssshhhh…”

For better sleep and relief from tinnitus, white noise can be a god-send. I can attest to the effectiveness of this! In fact I might go so far as to say that the best purchase I ever made, that impacted my life in the most positive way, was a pair of earplugs that generate white noise. This is not an affiliate message either. If the company HAD and affiliate program, I’d be more than happy to support them, but as it is I’m happy to support them anyway. The product is called “Sleep-Eze,” as basically, it’s a pair of “reverse hearing aids.” They run on hearing aid batteries. When you put them into your ears, the world basically just drops away and all you can hear is the pleasant and soothing sound of white noise.

When it gets quiet, I get a fairly loud ringing in my ears…doubtless from playing loud rawk music for too many years. Anyway, the white noise earplugs completely mask the ringing. But where these babies have REALLY helped is to drown out the sound of other people’s voices! This is especially useful in airports or any situation where you are surrounded by others and you want/need to focus. And the coup de grace has been the drowning out of my wife’s snoring at night. We love each other deeply, but I was on the verge of having to have a separate bedroom at one point, due to lack of sleep. But once I got these earplugs, I literally could not hear her snoring right next to me. It was fantastic. I loooove me some Sleep-Eze earplugs!

Audio… sound…has so many applications we may never think about. Some of these applications border on the life-changing for some people. If you aren’t interested in learning to record and create your own audio for musical or voice-over reasons, then consider the compelling therapeutic uses of audio. I named just a few.

If you want to learn how to get started recording and producing audio from your computer, or just to improve and expand on what you already create, come visit Home Brew Audio on the web. They can show you how to get started for $5.00 or less, and will guide you step-by-step with easy-to-understand video tutorials in plain language. So get started creating something powerful!

Brainwave Entrainment What Are 3 Steps to Quickly Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind to Believe You Are a Money Magnet?

To create change in the subconscious mind there are a few steps to be done.

First is to relax the mind. In order for hyper learning to occur, the conscious mind must move out of the way so that new information can enter the subconscious mind. There are several ways to do this. You could listen to an entrainment audio that entrains the brain to an alpha state. Another way to get into an alpha brainwave state is to inhale deeply through your mouth, hold it for a few seconds, and then exhale slowly through your nose. This will give you a spaced out and relaxed feeling. This is the feeling of entering the alpha state which is the brainwave most at when you are most able to learn and intake information.

Second, thing to do is to put your left hand on your right knee and then your right hand on your left knee. This is done so that both hemispheres of your brain can will work together to create and program your mind for the new belief that is to be installed. You could also toss a ball back and forth from one hand to the next for a similar effect.

Third step is to say and visualize the belief that you want to have. For this instance we’ll install the belief that you are a money magnet. The visual you can use for this is to imagine blizzards and avalanches of money pouring all over you. This might be tough to do at first because its a totally new idea to imagine but this is worth doing so practice visualizing what it would look and feel like to be in this downpour of money. Then while this visual is going on, say out loud to yourself, “I am a money magnet”. “I attract piles and piles of money easily and effortlessly”. As you are saying this and replaying the visuals in your mind, begin to rub and tap your knees with your opposite hands. Continue with the rubbing and tapping while visualizing and saying the statements.

This whole thing might seem silly but look at what is going on. You are in a hyper learning brainwave state. You are simultaneously using both hemispheres of your brain. While your entire brain is being engaged in this hyper learning state, your mind is being bombarded with powerful visuals and audios all affirming the same thing.

Continue doing this for at least 5 minutes.

Whats going on in this moment is that your brain is now downloading this information emotionally and logically since both of your hemispheres are working together and creating a new belief about money.

This reprogramming mind exercise is great to do just before you go to sleep. When you go to sleep, your brain will go into an alpha, theta and then a delta brainwave frequency. This is beneficial because it will cause this freshly formed belief to be planted deeper into the soil of your subconscious, allowing it to grow so that when you wake up the next morning, you’ll find yourself engaging in new behaviours and thoughts that support the belief that you are a money magnet.

There are several dozens of other techniques you can use to further enhance and accelerate your results.
